    Hop stand utilisation

Hello brains trust. Please see attached pictures. I'm planning a 3c's pale ale and when I move the recipe over to my profile on brewfather the hopstand give a very different amount of ibu and compensates by upping the 60min boil addition. I have checked the hopstand utilisation and it is 23%...

Help - ready to rack, but dry hopping has clogged the tap. Fixes?

Put a wedge under the tap side of your fermenter while it cold crashes and it will settle to the back.

    East gippy hydroponics and homebrew

East gippy hydroponics and homebrew opens in bairnsdale on Tuesday. I'm not affiliated with them in anyway but I'm so excited to have a local homebrew shop that now means I can pick up grains on a whim and brew more. If you are a local let's support them and keep them around.

    A nod to Crankshaft

So after some reading I'm interested in using k met to scrub oxygen. Am I better off just bying straight potassium metabisulfite or is adding half a campden tablet to a keg of water fine. Also what's the opinion on adding one of the above to the finished beer at packaging instead?

Never heard of them, where can I find them?

    Brewloon

This batch has lasted longer but the sweet cloying taste is now coming in😪 Might try dry hopping at yeast pitch next time.

    First try at adjuncts

Just did my first ever secondary and adjunct fermentation. Recipe is Dan Stockwell's cherry ripe stout courtesy of brew taste style on YouTube. Was a good tasting stout out of the hydro sample so looking forward to trying the finished product soon.

    Brewloon

I buy from both too, the snub nose is the 1st choice but as you say it will depend on hight as I use a chest freezer as a ferment chamber so will have to do the numbers.

    Brewloon

I took the co2 from the last part of fermentation but I agree that it is not very practical, I will be getting an all rounder or snub nose next time I'm in Melbourne.

Retrying my bentpoke crankshaft that failed last batch due to o2. This batch i tried this and also have put the hops into the keg and purged to give it a really good shot. Has the usual bad hop taste at present that should mellow out soon. Will let you know how it turns out.

Brewloon doing its job during cold crash. Closed transfer to go and then keg hop, let's see how this goes with o2 ingress.

If I get one of your soda stream sized bottles to do o2 purging activities do I have to use a full blown MK3 or 4 regulator or can I get away with something a bit smaller😉

    A nod to Crankshaft

Just to clarify as I'm now a bit concerned with my process being the issue. I do a full vol mash 33lt and put half a tablet of campden in at the start while my strike water heats up. I thought this was the right amount as 1 tablet seems to be for about 70lt. I have a bit of Chloramine in my...

    A nod to Crankshaft

Was a 60 min boil. I'm pretty convinced now that O2 is the problem. It has now gone honey and malty with no hop at all and an acidic finish. I tried pretty hard with this one to keep the O2 down so I'm now thinking a preasure fermenter is in my near future. I also think Ph is an issue and will...

    A nod to Crankshaft

Nah can't offended me, all thoughts are valid and helpful. The only other thing I didn't mention is that I had no means to do ph adjustment and according to brewfather it was 5.5. I wouldn't expect this to do anything to the hops though.

Standard hdpe fermenter, wasn't a hazy beer, bit of a chill haze though and the colour has held up well. Did a closed loop transfer. I don't think its an oxygen problem. Looking for suggestions on how to make the aroma last longer

    A nod to Crankshaft

Hello brains trust. I brewed this a month ago and was very happy with the beer initially. 2 weeks in it lost most of its hoppy appeal. Any suggestions on why this might be? I put the dry hops in just after high krousen, purged with co2. Used a brewloon to capture co2 and used it for suck back...

    Tasting plate

Good enough place to put this i think. Did and experiment by putting 6 hop varieties into cheap half strength beers. Went like this. Wednesday, put 3 full size hop pellets into very cold screw top bottles, 6 bottles 6 varieties. Put them into the coubord. Saturday I put the in the fridge to...
