Dedicated Grainfather Guide, Problems and Solutions Thread

If it’s the temp you are worried about then yes, to sterilise the wort chiller they say to pump the wort through it with the pump immediately the boil is finished which would be just under 100 deg so 80 shouldn’t be an issue.

    Modding the FERMENTASAURUS

The silicon hose supplied does slip over the original short dip tube, I have it set up like that on my fermentasaurus and never slips off. Cheers.

    Bottling direct from a fermentasaurus

Is the cask made of pet ? Pretty sure the manufacturers say if you drill the hole it voids any pressure warranty.

    Bottling direct from a fermentasaurus

Pretty sure if you fit the racking arm you can’t use it for pressure fermenting as fitting the racking arm means drilling a hole in the vessel.

    Bottling direct from a fermentasaurus

When I was bottling I would remove a small amount of the beer from the fermenter and heat and mix dextrose in that and return to fermenter and mix in, the rest of the process with the fermentasaurus you’re on the money.

    Fermenting Under Pressure

There is a right way up for the seal and a wrong way, there is a lip on the inside edge of the seal which sits inside the neck of the fermenter and this stops the seal pushing out and deforming. Not saying that you are not putting it the right way up but just a thought as mine seals first time...

    Fermenting in a Fermentasaurus

I did have probs initially but found that I wasn’t tightening the collar enough and by giving it that extra 1/4 of a turn I can hold 15 psi no probs, I’ve had it up to 25 psi without leaks aswell.

Wtf, being a knob gets you no votes. We all start somewhere and just because I have less knowledge than you shouldn’t mean you have to be a smart ***. I’ll bet you started as a rookie dumbo too. If you have nothing constructive to say shut the **** up. Enough said by me.

    EOI PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE.

I’d question the need for an adaptor, I’ve screwed one of these directly into a bsp brass female tee piece with no issues. If we were talking high pressure then an adaptor would be needed but at 30 psi max no issues.
