    Kenf I tried the lauter helix on my grainfather running off the pump pickup and it was a dismal failure, it worked well during mashing but as soon as a whirlfloc was added it blocked when trying to transfer through the chiller to fermenter.

    Matt, I had issues with a itc-308 and all correspondence had to be via email through eBay, they are based in China and only have distribution centre in Aus I believe. Communication was a little challenging.

    A lot of petrol stations in Perth have penguin water stations, they’re water is of reasonable quality and only about $6 I believe for 15-20 ltrs you have to supply your own container for the water

    Sometimes the pump will get an airlock, with cool water in the grainfather try connecting the chiller up, opening the ball valve and turn the pump on and suck on the chiller outlet hose. If it’s still not pumping take it back to where you purchased it from for a replacement.

    Purely because the original recipe was meant for 3.8l total volume, it’s a bit misleading by the way it’s worded but if you reread the recipe you will see what I mean. I don’t think any sg calculations are really meant to be taken into account for this mead recipe as it is ancient orange mead.

    I had an issue with probable infection in mine, spoke to my lhbs and he suggested I boil the bits I could which is easy enough and the mix up a litre of sodium met and seal that into the fermentasaurus for a week, I took all the stainless bits off before I stuck the met in and capped the bottom...

    pH meter recommendation

    I’m in the market too and looked at the Kegland one and the accuracy is a little suspect, I think from what I have researched you do get what you pay for.
