    BrewMonitor project

Nah, the end game replaces your fridge and heater belt altogether - ;) Let's not get confused - temp controllers control temperature, BrewMonitors monitor your brew. Like compare the market, compare the meerkat right? :D (respectfully though, awesome idea with the Arlec switches and great...

Aww snap.. and here I was thinking we might get through the first page without being struck my dem lolcatz  Mardoo! (I'm saying that in in a Colonel Klink "Hoogan" voice)

    BrewMonitor project

Yep I think the BrewPi inputs would support the airlock sensor but I fear the BrewPi code might need some tricky changes since you have to sample the ADC at a high frequency and do some calculations to monitor the bubbles. The particle photon is a great candidate for adding WiFi to the...

    BrewMonitor project

You're spot on, and regretfully the answer is no I'm not planning to make it measure S.G at the moment. Currently there's the BrewNanny and BeerBug projects that try to accomplish this, but I'm still yet to be convinced that either are reliable or convenient enough to substitute manual S.G...

    BrewMonitor project

Hi Guys, Just a quick intro to a project I've been working on-and-off (mostly off :)) for far too long. It's called BrewMonitor and the idea is pretty simple - to hook up a recording device to your fermenter and record temperature and airlock activity. That way you can easily answer questions...

    Heated Digital Stirplates

Hi Nick, yes we're still aiming for a release this year. I spoke to our membrane manufacturer yesterday and they said the printing is done, they are just waiting for the little orange LEDs to arrive. I've dealt with them a lot in the past and I expect they should arrive in a bit over a week from...

    Matho's controller

Wow, sorry to open up a can of worms. I thought it might have been smoothed out in the UI to save us pedantic users from sleepless nights trying to tune out 0.1c overshoots with our PID settings  I had no idea it was done to keep the code size down. A very good reason. I don't think the...

    Matho's controller

Hey MaxN68, just wondering why is the temperature rounded to the nearest half-degree? E.g. 25.00c, 25.50c

    Matho's controller

Ahh, I just came across this post. I submitted a code fix and pull request on github earlier today to clear that last character but I think moving the "Electric/Gas" text one position left as SBOB suggested would have been a more elegant solution. Pull request can be viewed here...

Yeastagator was a strong contender too of course, sorry I forgot to mention it :) both suggestions are very on-key for this line of products.

    Heated Digital Stirplates

Update: No need for a poll, I consulted with SWMBO and she shared my concern that "Stirminator" sounds a little too much like a male ****star name. We're propagating yeast, not peeps :D and she also liked the "yeast forge" name a lot. I'd like to get the new membranes designed and ordered ASAP...

I too couldn't find the F1 video either, but the name was a little long anyway TBH :P My accountant got back to me and said we can't afford the licensing fees for any "A list" brewing celebrities, therefore we can't call it the Sponge or the Yob. I asked our lawyers if we could mix it up and...

    Heated Digital Stirplates

Thanks for the kind words of support guys. Sponge I'll get my agent to talk with your agent about royalties :) Seriously though, it does need a name, and I'm going to have to order new membranes anyway because all the temperatures are different when using an external probe so it's not too hard...

I've finished the test and there was too much information to post easily so I made a video instead (fast forward to about 1 minute to avoid a recap). EDIT: URL fixed. Where would I be without your help guys!?! There's no list per se as the product is still changing day by day! Queue that old...

Yup, another reason to measure the wort and not just the plate's surface I suppose. Hey I just checked back on that chart, it looks like it's going to stabilise at its set point of 29C this time. Fingers crossed because that firmware update to get the probe working was a pretty big hack job...

The Brauduino (Matho’s Controller) Buy thread

Actually, the manufacturer's website says blue is input and grey is output. It looks like we got the right parts after all and the video and packing slip were just mixed up to trick us  Quote: "3.Using blue (input) and grey(output) to distinguish right plug and socket."...

The packing slip says "2 grey - power in, 3 blue - power out" The build video on youtube also shows 3 of the blue sets and 2 greys. If their ratings are the same I guess we could just interchange them. I.e. Wire Blue as input and Grey as output.

The Brauduino (Matho’s Controller) Buy thread

My kit arrived today and the build is going sweet! Just one problem, I ended up with 3 grey power connectors and 2 blues instead of 2 greys and 3 blues. Did anyone end up with 1 grey and 4 blues and want to trade a blue for a grey?
