Keg Scale and Digital Tap List project

Thanks for the tips! For adding an external tv screen I was thinking of supporting tvOS in the app so you can use it with an Apple TV. There are android TVs too so running a native app on the TV might be an option, it's hard to work out what level of BLE compatibility these devices have though...

Keg Scale and Digital Tap List project

An update... I was thinking about alternatives to weighing the kegs for situations where a scale wouldn't be practical and I wondered if I could use an infrared distance sensor to measure the distance from the keg lid down to the top of the beer. Here's a new video I put together showing the...

    Heated Digital Stirplates

I'll get Brooke to look into it ASAP (she's our web geek). It could be caused by the Pre-Order shenanigans or the new feature Brooke added to select the adapter style by the country you're from. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

A picture as promised. 10 units in assembly today, still on track to post this afternoon.

    Heated Digital Stirplates

Thanks Yob, Good point about process depending on your equipment. For me, I can only cool and decant a 3 or 5L starter if my fermenting fridge is free. SWMBO won't like it if I shuffle the fridge shelves around to fit in a giant flask :) Bigger is more convenient when you're boiling starter...

    What's the difference between regulators

Mine's similar, but see how the low pressure gauge goes all the way up to 90psi? I usually serve at about 9psi, so I'm only using about 10% of the scale (I admit I exaggerated a bit when I called it a "blip" :) ). Even when I force carb I only use about 35psi so the rest is wasted space. Am I...

    Heated Digital Stirplates

One characteristic about flasks is that their costs seem to go up exponentially with size. If you can get the 5L, the 3L or 2L will be a fraction of the price so you might want to pick them up at the same time. As for the 500ml and 1L flasks, they're relatively cheap so if you're stepping up...

    What's the difference between regulators

Do any of them come with a gauge where serving pressure isn't just a blip on the dial? All the ones I've seen go up too far even for my force carbing needs.

    Hop Thief 8

I've been drinking the 7 almost every week since it came out. IMO It's the closest thing to beer that they sell at my local sports club. Really looking forward to the 8 so I can taste something new for a bit.

Keg Scale and Digital Tap List project

    1. Currently you can label each keg as "Tap 1" or "Spare" or "Cellar" etc. You can also display beers not being weighed too like "Esky". Let me know if there's any problem with that, it's pretty flexible at the moment. 2. Do you mean on the scales or as a separate bridge? I like the ESP8266 but...

Keg Scale and Digital Tap List project

I get that too, when the pressure starts to drop you're already too low to carbonate or dispense much beer over the weekend. I started a brainstorming thread about CO2 leak detection recently and considering the cost of CO2 sensors, monitoring the CO2 bottle's weight might be a viable option if...

Coopers getting in on the game of daft brewing machines?

It just looks so sexy. Custom backlit LCD screen, curvy textured injection moulded plastics. Just as soon as I can get a chip injected into my brain that makes K&K beers taste good I'll be buying one!

Coopers getting in on the game of daft brewing machines?

Great perspective Wiggman. There are a lot of parallels with with the (now ubiquitous) coffee pod machines and it would be interesting to know what the non-home-brewers think about it. There was a statistic buried in an email from WilliamsWarn a while back inferring that 32% of our male...

Yes (very sorry). They just ran out the other day and I really hate to keep you guys waiting. We're waiting on some new heater PCBs that I ordered a few weeks ago. Brooke has set an ETA of late July on the website and that's our worst case scenario but I'm optimistic they'll be here in a week...

    Starter flask

I transfer directly from heat to water all the time. Never had a flask crack. I also drop my stir bar into the wort. Again, never damaged my flask. I also boil my stir bar with the wort. Never had it melt or demagnetise. I do use Schott Duran glassware though. Regarding boil overs, I try to use...

Why do ALL of my can kits taste bad?

Of course not, I just wanted to know how they make a kit win awards. I expect that if I poured my Coopers goop and BE2 into a WW it would taste just the same.

Why do ALL of my can kits taste bad?

There's a lot of talk about WilliamsWarn in the other threads lately which inspired me look into how they are making "award winning" beers with K&Ks. Looking at their American Pale Ale for example, they use Fermentis yeast and DME, with no mention of dextrose or malto. They also recommend making...

Coopers getting in on the game of daft brewing machines?

Lol wait up, you know I started that thread yeah? I'm the poor sod that can't get his kits to taste good (yet), hence my fears that this new goop processor may further entrench homebrew's bad reputation. However, if it is possible to make great beer with dehydrated ingredients it really opens up...
