    Recipe advice: Raspberry Wheat

Hi guys, I just picked up 2kg of frozen ALDI raspberries and plan to brew a raspberry wheat with ingredients I have on hand. My goal is to showcase the raspberries while remaining light and refreshing for friends and family. I'm thinking: -2.2KG Maris Otter or Pilsner (mash at 65˚C) -2.2KG...

    Beer scenery in Boston

Awesome, I'm told it's gonna be cold, but otherwise it's very compatible with Aussies. Cool, I hadn't looked out in the Cambridge direction, I can see a few on the maps there that I will have to research. Dangerous drivers + icy roads + drunken Aussie pedestrians looking the wrong way does...

    Beer scenery in Boston

Has anyone been to Boston before? I’m headed to Boston for business in Feb and plan on staying back a day or two to check out their brewing scene. I’ll drop by Harpoon and Sam Adams but are there any other cool craft beer pubs or tap houses I should put on my list?

Keg Scale and Digital Tap List project

Very true. The same could go for the beer leak detection. While we could incorporate an electronic probe into the scale to detect fluids, it may be easier to simply let the software sort it out. E.g. when it detects that over a certain volume has been poured at a constant rate it's highly likely...

Why do ALL of my can kits taste bad?

Kit yeast and BE2 eh? Did you bother rehydrating the yeast? Temperature controlled at 22˚C?

    Brewometer

Agreed. I once left my heater belt (from a reputable brand name) laying in my fridge and it partly melted the fridge. I'm very glad it never caused a fire. Lesson learned.

Keg Scale and Digital Tap List project

Great idea with the leak alarm! I think it might be do-able without taxing the battery too much or increasing the bill of materials cost significantly. It's still a shame that CO2 sensing isn't as feasible on this product due to cost and battery life. I lose CO2 bottles all the time :( Haven't...

Keg Scale and Digital Tap List project

I think The Lonely Island made a song about that :) Sorry for the lull, we've joined with an accelerator program and we've been flat out learning all sorts of business stuff that will help us to launch well. Lately we've been pushing forward under the name POuRTAL. Rationale: It's like a...

    SmartPID

I think I'll be picking one up too. I put my name down on the mailing list on their website. Arzaman, you will be releasing an early bird tier on your crowdfunding campaign for us mailing list subscribers right? :D  Also I don't think you'll get FCC approval with that ESP-01 module in...

    SmartPID

I agree, this is in a different league to the STC-1000+! Thanks for the picture, what are those 3 dark grey boxes on the back panel? I love that you're adding in an ESP-01 module for WiFi. It's a very smart way to add value and in this application you won't need any emissions certifications so...

    SmartPID

Finally, a hackable STC1000 with WiFi and a sweet OLED display to boot! I'm creating this discussion thread so we can chat about this upcoming innovation (without flooding the Matho's controller thread) and perhaps have some input into its development. FTR I have no affiliation with the...

    Brewometer

Question - Why is it in the form of a google doc and how is the data getting there? Does your Brewometer app gather bluetooth data from the device then automatically sync to a google doc for you?

Rise Of The Brewing Machines - Craft Beer Lovers, Don't Be Afraid&

No, not taking the piss. A few years back my wife and I tried pitching (unsuccessfully) an idea like Brewie to a startup accelerator. Since then we've had Picobrew, Brewie, Beerdroid, iGulu/Artbrew, Synek, Brewbot and more jumping into the automated brewing scene. It's becoming a very hot market...

Coopers getting in on the game of daft brewing machines?

I'd say you're right that it will force air into the cavity between the goon bag and the keg to dispense the beer and keep it under pressure to stay carbonated. I suppose you could jerry rig an aquarium pump to do the same and just keep it in a regular fridge. After watching the video again I...

Broadband Beers: Chris Sheehan, Maltshovel Brewery

Yeah of course, but he also hinted earlier on that they might be bringing back some of the previous Hop Thiefs. I figured it might come out under the Mad Brewers label since revisiting an old HT sounds kinda "mad".

Broadband Beers: Chris Sheehan, Maltshovel Brewery

Good work Chris! It was great to see the man behind the beers and he seems like a top bloke. Your interview really allowed his personality to shine through which was nice. Sadly the beer he was holding up to the light seemed a bit pale to be a HT7 :( Keep up the good work and best wishes mate!

    Hop Thief 8

I think I know what you're talking about and also wonder if it's the Crystal hops. Their descriptions include earthy, woody, green, spicy, floral and fruit notes. Could it be those fruit notes? Overall "green" is how I would describe this beer so it's interesting to see it come up in the hop...
