    Need UK hops now

Thanks Blind Dog. I have some Challenger for the recipe too, but it's not enough either. Might have to wait til I get my hand on some Target by the looks of it.

    Need UK hops now

Mardoo, I met you in in Bayswater a month or so back. I was picking up the centrifuge vials. I'm happy to bitter with Fuggles, just don't have enough. I do have lots of Chinook, but not sure how that will go with a London Ale (fullers LP clone). Thanks for the offer, but it's a bit far. I'm...

    Need UK hops now

Argh, about to do a brew and realised I'm under target for bittering hops. Substituted Target hops for Fuggles based on some advice (Couldn't find Target anywhere), and only now realise that it's not going to carry enough bitterness for the style. Anyone near Greensborough VIC with some UK...

    Viking Malts

So I finished brewing my ale with the Viking malt, kegged it and have drank about half of it. I LOVE it. It's one of the nicest brews I've made. Not sure whether to attribute that to the yeast, grain, conditions, recipe.. I don't have enough experience (only been AG for about 6 months) but the...

Brew not FG target - To rack or not to rack?

Just to close this out - I let temp rise to ~20C then left for about 5 days. FG was 1.011. Better than 1.017! Little yeasties just needed that extra kick.

    Kegerator serving temp

I had mine around zero, but had some issues with carbonation. Dropped to around -1.5 on some advice (fluctuates a degree here or there) and it's pretty good now! I had a go at dropping it even lower, but then last week I went to pour a glass and it had frozen! Back to -1.5 now.

    Viking Malts

I bought some Viking malt from Home Maker recently and used it last night. I bought their Pils, Ale, and Crystal 150. I've only just put it in the fermenter, but the colour, efficiency, & taste was all good, and the smell was amazing. I think for the whole 4.5kg I paid about $15. Pretty happy...

    Biab Beer Designer Spreadsheet

That's a good idea! I'll do just that. Cheers!

    Biab Beer Designer Spreadsheet

Hi ianh. Great spreadsheet! I'm using a 'keggle' made from a stainless steel keg as my brew vessel. Shout I be selecting 'pot' as my vessel on the BIAB tab, then adding my specific diameter? Cheers, Mat

Brew not FG target - To rack or not to rack?

All good and consistent advice which I have now followed. Thanks!

Brew not FG target - To rack or not to rack?

Hello gentlemen, Looking for some advice on an issue that I’m sure has been covered in a thousand posts – but from all of my reading there are so many variables and I’m struggling to decide what avenue to take. Sorry if I’ve posted this in the wrong section.. I’m currently fermenting an AG...

    White Labs Vials

Yob thanks for the link. I'll have a read. Good suggested re the teflon tape! Regarding the kickstarter campaign, I probably wouldn't be able to commit. Working fulltime, baby, etc. I am, however, interested in a yeast co-op or something. I'd have to have to get the process down pat first. I'm...

    White Labs Vials

Wow, I'm a little overwhelmed by the volume and speed of responses! First time post, was expecting nothing. Lot's of awesome advice, thanks! I'll PM a few of you. Perhaps I'll experiment with the WL vials and the 50L centrifuge tubes. I can imagine the WL vials don't like being boiled for too...

    White Labs Vials

Hello! Does anyone have any white labs yeast vials they want to get rid of? I'm planning to start a small scale yeast bank. I'm located in Melbourne. Cheers! Mat

    FREE cubes (Prahran, Vic)

Hi mate, Are these cubes still available? I'm keen to take them off your hands. I work in Prahran, so would be easy for me to get them. Cheers, Mat

Comment by 'Mat B' in media 'New World Ale'

I can't quite remember exactly how much I used, but from memory it was about a teaspoon of Dextrose in 345ml James Squire bottles. This was before I had learned about bulk priming etc. I'm pretty happy with it's carbonation though.

    New World Ale

Made this earlier this year using a fresh wort kit from G&G. Artisanale - New World Ale. It's excellent!!

Same bier but 3 weeks later. It tastes great!

    Weissbier

This is my first crack at an all grain brew. Followed the recipe from this site; 'Try Again Hefeweizen'. I screwed up the top up water calcs a bit and it's a bit low on alc, so has been designated a mid week drink! This shot is a week after bottling.
