You will need a multi meter to test which is the earth then the other 2 shouldn't matter all that much which goes to active and neutral. It would be slightly good practice using the red for active if it's not the earth I suppose. I don't think you should have let out the stuff that was in there...

Yep done this myself I can take a photo on Wednesday but there is not much to see really. Good score! I did the JAO mead but used the wrong oranges and it was way over bitter and even after 4 years never came good. Going to try again as everyone else that brews it loves it.

I agree with Bonenose, most likely a bad connection causing that point in the circuit to get very hot. It might still be ok as long as it's not shorted to the other side of the element and you can connect the wire securely and keep things cool. Some testing might be in order before you use it next.

Is your target keg also at pressure? I think you need both at the same pressure and slowly bleed off the pressure in the target keg.

Its most likely normal. Mine are still green but I'm expecting them to start dieing off soon. Cut bines off at ground level.

I do believe they have put out an updated version recently. Maybe you could get your taps replaced with the newer version. That is unless you have the latest one.
