We have worked with Crown on improving the urn for BIAB brewing. The concealed element Crown Urns that we sell are factory set with a higher cut out temperature to allow for some silting over the base & the fact you're boiling wort, not water (wort boils at higher temp). I would doubt Birko's...

Menoetes, If you ferment out our Bacchus Amber FWK (no extra hops needed) with temp control, & good sanitary practice, the beer will be every bit as good as the beer you enjoyed on tap at the Scratch. They are exactly the same beer. Cheers Ross

Read the question, he used Cooper yeast ;) Your higher finishing gravity is maybe due to the yeast choice, but not knowing it's characteristics or the health/viability of it when you pitched, I'd try & get it up to 20c+ in temp for another week & see what happens. Cheers Ross

Straight dilution would be fine - Personally I'd just drink a little less & enjoy it at full strength, it's truly a great porter (totally affiliated :-))

Dan, You have under pitched & you won't see a krausen until cell numbers have time to build. WY1214 is a slow starter at the best of times, I wouldn't be surprised if you don't see activity for 2 to 3 days... Just leave it well alone, it'll fire & all will be good, if your sanitary procedures...

Commercially & at home I've always adjusted for gravity & the taste (bitterness) has always been as expected. What the measured figures are i have no idea. cheers....

In our experience everyone of them leaks gas & some from several places. Connect to your gas & check by submerging the complete gun in water to spot the leaks, otherwise you'll wonder why your gas bottle has not lasted very long. We sell the KK guns but not before testing & repairing them...
