    seized keg king silver pump

Bearing failure analysis, let me just grab my mansplaining hat, jodhpurs and cane... Causes of bearings going out like this could be for many reasons, but for a low cost Chinese item like this I'd wager they probably use cheap bearings that will have a higher failure rate than better ones. Which...

If it's almost crunchy then 99% sure it's a bearing. If you completely remove the grub screws the magnet should come off with a bit of force. Undo the screws at the back and the housing will separate, allowing you to slide the rotor out. There'll be tiny bearings on it that should have a number...

    Whats In The Glass (commercial)

Wayward Brewing Co. Sour Puss. I got this as part of a Good Beer Week collection. Raspberry sour definitely smells like raspberries. Tastes like it's got raspberries in it too. Minimal barnyard but plenty of tartness. A little too much hop presence for the style, it tastes like there was late...

Bang on ^^^^ 2.5mm Allen key required. To separate the motor the screws come from the back, so if you did want to pull it apart you'll need to take the cover off. Tony's probably on the money though it is suspicious that applying lube has allowed it to run fine ever since. Maybe a coincidence...

I see. They're largely waterproof so there's a good chance the cap on the back was glued on after the rotor was installed. I wouldn't remove that to see if you can unscrew from that end. The magnet will need to come off to disassemble the pump and inspect / do anything around the drive end...

    seized keg king silver pump

Two things of note - Stopping and starting a few times can get it going, when it's stuck pushing the magnet gets it going Lube behind the magnet seemed to fix it There's a friction issue on a seal or withing the DE bearing. The magnet looks like it's secured to the shaft with a cap screw, so...

Vic 2017 Xmas in July Case Swap - TASTING

    5. droid - Nefarious Villain Idiotically I was thinking this was another of Grumpy's beers (I ended up with a few somehow) and realised pretty quickly this was no pale ale. To be brutally honest I don't think I appreciate this beer, and I'll call it as I see it. A velvety head rests on the top...

Question: Is a relay board suitable a replacement for SSR?

From my limited exposure to the current ratings of SSRs the closer you are to the recommended rating the more heat it will generate under load. I have a 15A heater and run 40A SSRs. I've melted two 25A SSRs but that could also have something to do with them being a Chinese ripoffs of the Chinese...

    Caterpillars on Hops Plants

I used to battle quite a bit with Caterpillars on zucchini, Success tended to do a good job.

Vic 2017 Xmas in July Case Swap - TASTING

    15. Tahoose - Fortified stout As far as stouts go it's light - I can see through it and it's actually a bright beer. Very deep auburn-copper-red. The carbonation borders on medium and holds a very nice cream-tan head that other beers would be jealous of. It's an interesting beer, immediately I...

And a complete change, Balter's Black Metal Disco. A classic stout coming in at 5.4%. Tending more towards chocolate with moderate roast, it ticks all the boxes but doesn't nail any. It's hard to explain... I'm thinking US hops were used but with an English base or yeast, or maybe lots of...

When in Rome, do as the Roman's do. Been many a year since I've had a XXXX Bitter, unashamedly my choice of macro lager. I'm a little dissapointed to see it's been watered down to 4.4% but it's still a moderately bold no-nonsense Aussie lager that could be downed all night.

    Are these kegs suitable?

I have a similar keg which has a Pepsi sticker on the sidea, and used to have a Coke keg which was a very robust unit apart from the bent opening which I'm assuming was cause by an aeroplane impact. The main difference is the male disconnects have a female thread on the keg, not sure what size...

    Leffe Yeast Strain

A yeast for both styles? Probably not. I understand Leffe Radiuse (probably my favourite beer) uses the Westmalle strain - or at the very least a similar strain - which is Wyeast 3787 / WLP530. I've brewed a Belgian standard Abbey Beer using Whitelabs 3942 Belgian Wheat which turned out to be a...

    Iron Jack Lager

I'm still blown away by the sales of Great Northern. I'll drink most free beers handed to me but Great Northern is simply unenjoyable. It was a 35°C day in summer at a friend's party and I ran out of my home brews. This was free in the esky, and without going on about it I had the 1 and stopped...

    Iron Jack Lager

"Lion announces biggest launch of 2017 with Iron Jack". Now if that doesn't get you brewers excited I'm not sure what will. I was at the pub with some colleagues on Friday and we got onto the topic of beers (as you do). I was stoked Melbourne Bitter was on tap and meanwhile others had Fat Yak...

    Whats In The Glass

Was about to ask how you got that Melbourne Bitter twang in there (I've got some lagers coming up) but realised I was one of the said brewers and brewed using some of my kit. Will splash my controller with hot wort on the next attempt.

BLASPHEMY. You certainly seem to run into some cross-contamination issues, might be time to move house.

Got my Bribie on today with a $10 glasses pack and a 6 pack of Flensburger Pilsener at Aldi. Not an outstanding Pils, a bit more bitter with more earthiness than typical brews. Ok drop probably on par with a $15 asking price. I like the swingtop bottles though
