    WLP001 not fermenting in bottle

how long you cold crash and how long have they been sitting ? I find if I do a long cold crash some beers take 6 weeks to carb properly. I have done a couple brews with WLP001 recently and they carbed as expected after CC

    Beer Bombs

I have been brewing 5 years and never had a single bomb . as long as you do the simple things it will be fine. I make sure the beer is finished and I am strict with my bottle cleaning rinse after drinking bottling day I make 2 tubs of sodium perc and submegre and soak them all for at least...

    Cheeky peak nano series.

I have a 50 l with tap and dial thermometer. I use it with gas burner so got the triple base. I can’t fault it. Steel seems good quality and it hold mash temp great. I just chuck 3 towels on top of it and only lose 1 degree in an hour.

What have you dropped into the Fermenter?

Damn it. Last night . After a bunch beers decided to a hydro test my saison that had been on a week. Removed airlock , took sample , when putting airlock in for some drunken reason decided to push it in a bit further than usual and the grommet popped out and fell into the beer. Fell straight to...

    undercharged bottles

I use 1 drop in a 750 sometimes. It still is plenty carbed to me. I think 2 is good for saison or Belgians that I want high carb. But often for pale ales and stuff I prefer the carb level of 1. I should bulk carb too probably but it’s just 1 more thing to clean so I stick to drops.

    GUTEN

I don’t have a gluten but that’s a good read. I have been doing full volume and wondered why I always needed to up the grain a little to hit og. I thought I just sucked.

Mangrove Jack's M29 French Saison yeast

I’m actually drinking one right now. It’s nice. Doesn’t have the Apricot I thought it had. Some nice funk , def on the tart saison end of the spectrum. Not a huge difference from belle saison which I have used a bunch of times.

    Fresh wort kits

Saw in the brew shop the other day mangrove jack do a saison pouch in their craft line up now. Not a fwk, but it I have made a few of their craft pouches in the past and they all came out pretty good. Probably comes with m29 too. Would save on postage.

    Seal floating in fermenter

Yep. Seal from the fwk cube. Happened to me once. I saw it fall in and decided to leave it as I figured it was sterilized when packed. Beer was fine.

All Grain - is it substantially better beer?

I am 10 batches deep into the swap to AG after 4 or so years or extracts and kits It is a much bigger time sink but I enjoy the process and I do think the beers I’m Making are better overall. I worked as a cook for a couple years and really enjoy cooking so get satisfaction from. starting the...

    LG craft beer appliance

We all know it’s destined to fail, but it’s not for us. Imagine LG sunk all the R & D dollars they sunk into this white elephant POS into an actual system to make real brewing more accessible. Not sleek item for your kitchen bench top , but a white goods unit to sit in your garage or laundry...

Mangrove Jack's M29 French Saison yeast

So weekend blew out a little and didn’t bottle till today. So it sat 6 days and stayed 1002. Tasted the final hydro sample before bottling and got a bit of furitiness. Apricot was My first thought. Keen to try one after a couple weeks conditioning.

Mangrove Jack's M29 French Saison yeast

Cheers. It has been stable for 4 days. 1054 to 1002 for 96% attenuation. I am pretty confident it’s done. But I can’t bottle till tomorrow anyway so it has another day to change if it’s feeling it.

Mangrove Jack's M29 French Saison yeast

So it’s been 1002 for 3 days. In the interest of keeping summer production turning over gonna call it done and bottle to get next batch on. Tastes good. Looking back thinking I should’ve pushed the temp a little more. It’s tsting pretty clean saison funk wise.

Wort double the darkness expected ?

Ok to close this off. So eventually got this into fermenter and color looked fine. Weird. Next day did a batch of pale ale. All good. Go to take my end of boil hydro sample and notice the first flow out of the tap was also really dark at first Stop it half full. Tip it then open tap again...
