Best way to add choc and coffee to stout

Not sure what’s complicated about throwing some coffee beans and cacao nibs in some vodka for a weeks or so and then straining them? It would take longer to make the espresso!

Best way to add choc and coffee to stout

In my experience adding to the fermenter works well but don’t add loose. The other option is to steep both in vodka for a week or two and strain the liquid off. It will add plenty of the flavour without all the particle matter.

    Recipes for soft c*cks

If you want some recipes that are interesting to brew and also have broader appeal try some of the recipes in Bronzed Brews or 6 O'Clock Beers (i think). These are historical Australian and although most are ales they are clean easy drinking beers. I had a bunch of brewers over last Saturday...

$1500 to spend, what should I buy?

$1500 to spend, what should I buy?

These are basically the same as what I have. 2 gets a good rolling boil going for around 50L but you need 2 separate 10 amp circuits to run them. I have 2 15amp circuits in my brew area so that works for me.

$1500 to spend, what should I buy?

I'd start with a decent sized kettle. 70L is good for 40L batches. You can either set this up with a gas burner or electric elements. I have a gas burner and 2 over the side elements and only use electric these days. This will get you brewing for around $300 all up and you can add a HLT, mash...

    Triple tap cobra fonts

Nah, it’s a 2 door grand deluxe from keg king. Looks the goods and fits 4 cornies in one side with room on the other side for food and drinks. It’s a bit noisy for an inside unit but looks a shitload better than my last keezer!

    Triple tap cobra fonts

It has metal pipes that run from each tap to the base which connect to my beer live with John guest fittings. It also has a line for glycol but I’ve never connected it or needed to. Get a bit of foam on the first pour but I can live with that! I got the taps a few years ago from the US. A mate...

    Triple tap cobra fonts

I bought a 4 tap cobra from cheeky peak. They are good to deal with.

    Bad beer from Nowra

I would seriously doubt that exposure to oxygen would lead to a demonstrable decline in flavour after a few days. Even if you were pouring straight from the fermenter into a keg that would be very fast deterioration. I think something else might be happening...

    Bad beer from Nowra

Sounds like a normal transfer process to me. What do you clean your kegs with? Could that be the change in flavour?

Topping up the kettle post boil

Did a brew on the weekend where I managed 55L into cubes from a 70L kettle. It was an IPA at 1.060 with a 10L kettle top up post boil. It was a very simple process to calculate although I think I underestimated the size of my cubes as I was filling 2 20L cubes and 1 15L cube and the last one...

Topping up the kettle post boil

I might give this a go over the weekend. was planning on brewing a saison anyway and too much is never enough so will aim to get 60L out of my 70L kettle with maybe a 15L top up post boil.

Topping up the kettle post boil

Do you make any adjustments to hop additions when diluting or design the recipe based on the total finished volume?

Topping up the kettle post boil

I was having a conversation with the brewer at our local brewery who said that they top up their kettle prior to whirlpool. They brew over gravity and then top up to desired volume and SG. It occurred to me that this seems even more applicable in a home brew environment where most people are...

White Labs WLP059 Melbourne Ale yeast to be released

Just kegged my version of a 1917 xxx ale and carbed a bottle up using a carbonation cap. Very dry and clean for the amount of sugar in the grist and very easy drinking. I think this will make a great lawnmower beer for summer

IBU boil time and hops quantity

Not sure the intention of the OP was to shorten the boil. More a question about the different flavours or perceived bitterness from when in the boil the hops are added. The short answer is that there will be a difference in flavour. Especially the difference from a 60 minute addition and a 15...

Pirate Life sells to AB InBev

The success or quality of Blue Tongue is actually irrelevant. The point was more that CUB et al buy other companies for a variety of reasons and they aren't always about maintaining the integrity or survival of the product.

Pirate Life sells to AB InBev

Anyone remember blue tongue? Got bought out and then discontinued. Not saying this will happen with pirate life but to think the megas are buying successful brands with the intention of broadening their range isn’t always right. Sometimes it’s just to obliterate the competition.
