What are you brewing - 2019?

Not familiar with some of those malts, what are you making there, some sort of dark ale, lightly hopped BIPA? #confused I'm currently brewing up a hazy IPA for the missus who has suffered some withdrawals since our US west coast trip a couple months ago.. recipe over in the NEIPA thread. Got a...

    The NEIPA thread

After discovering that my main rotating keg is nearly empty (whoops!) I've decided to do an impromptu brew tomorrow (Sunday). Going to base it off of Gash's Jedi Juice clone recipe, a few changes to suit what I have onhand etc., should look something like this; EDIT: Had to update this recipe...

    Silly hop whirlpool question

If you are going for whirlpool steeping and trying to avoid adding too many IBUs then just chill to ~75 degrees (not 80) to be in that safer window. That way your 5 min addition calc will be pretty right and will all but cease contributing IBUs once you get down to 75. Personally, I chill to...

    The NEIPA thread

Sounds good, keep us posted, you didn't include your hop schedule though? Hitting that perfect glowing colour can be tricky, if you get a chance post a pic when it hits the glass along with some tasting notes..

    Hello from Colorado

Hi Wayne, hopefully you'll have some awesome 'former pro' tips for us, likewise there are certainly a few guys around here running various models of the Robobrew/Brewzilla units (not me yet, I'm still doing BIAB with a 40L Crown urn but have been thinking about the 35L Brewzilla). Anyway, good...

Two Bays (Gluten Free) Grain Kits

Just updating my thread now that the brew is almost finished! I learnt a lot along the way, firstly there was a LOT of cleaning, I had to mill the grains myself so I had to strip down my mill and thoroughly clean it, then when it came to milling the I had to really fiddle with the gap to get...

    The NEIPA thread

Cool, I've looked at that recipe before , some great takeaways from it, let us know how you go with it! The recipe I'm developing is based off of this find on Reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/Homebrewing/comments/bbfjyb/double_neipa_recipe_perfected/ - I'm scaling down from a double though...

    The NEIPA thread

Following this thread as I'll be brewing my first NEIPA in about a month or so (my brother has done quite a few of them). I have a recipe that is based off of a few sources but the inspiration is a beer I had whilst in Vancouver called Colour & Shape by Superflux, it's probably the best...

Keg modding for floating dip tube to begin dry hopping

They look great, expensive though! Maybe one of the site sponsors could work something out.. or a bulk buy? Should work fine, maybe stick a little grommet on there to protect the dip tube and create a better seal..

Keg modding for floating dip tube to begin dry hopping

Well due to the oxidisation risk I decided to stop cracking my kegs open and instead do the sanitiser/purge method to really minimise that O2 exposure (read: paranoia). That said, I had done a number of keg-hopped beers and I never actually had any oxidisation issues with them. I would still...

    Fermzilla

Well I personally love the idea of a cheaper, flat bottomed or domed Fermzilla, I'd be keen to use them as kegs or for the ocassional ferment where I'm not fussed about dumping out the bottom valve. The most attractive part is the clear PET material, but I should say it would hold more value to...

Keg modding for floating dip tube to begin dry hopping

The main downside with keg hopping is O2 exposure as, ideally, you would fill your keg with sanitiser and push it out with CO2 and then not open it again. Burping the keg is far less efficient (when done properly and not token) but then I suppose it depends if you're doing a closed transfer...

    Fermzilla

I would imagine a domed bottom would allow for beer to pool at the bottom easier, might even be good for a corny keg replacement..? Would be good if they were stackable with easy access to the beer/gas posts..

Moving to NW Tas from Melbourne

Bit of a mixed bag for me but I use Brew By You for all the local stuff - https://www.brewbyyou.com.au/ - then you have your pick of the crop for online suppliers for those things that local don't stock, just watch out for freight costs because it's typically a little higher for us Taswegions...

    Whats In The Glass

What did you sub for the honey malt (unless you actually got your hands on some)?

    Fermzilla

Try not so tight, also, I'd try some keg lube on the seal..

Fixing an overly bitter coffee porter

How much espresso did you add? I know this might sound weird but salt is also good at de-bittering coffee but I usually only do it when brewing. I usually add a about a 1/4 tsp to my larger french press, or just a pinch to the grind in my stovetop espresso maker -...

Alcohol Free Beer Brewing (Dont hurt me!)

I can't comment on your process above but you could try brewing Brewdog's Nanny State if in a pinch - https://brewdogrecipes.com/recipes/nanny-state

Pirate Life Throwback Clone - Session IPA

I'll give this a crack but not until closer to Summer, too many dark beers to get through first! ;) By the way, what was the SRM on this, do you have a pic?

    Fermzilla

    That fixed it, thanks!
