    KegLand Questions and Answers

I know you weren't asking me but.. damn good! I love Where Strides the Behemoth even more! ;)

Good single vessel for new to All Grain?

I'd be inclined to go the 35L Robobrew if I were you. You can always do double batches, reiterated mashes, or adjuncts etc., for those occasional higher ABV beers..

Good single vessel for new to All Grain?

I use a Crown 40L as well, I don't have a pump though, just the bag and a stirring paddle! I consistently brew 6-7% beers (at about 73% efficiency) pretty comfortably, if I ever want to go any stronger (rarely) then I just do a reiterated mash. You could probably do the same in the Digiboil...

    What’s your bad brewing habit?

Well it depends, I call it a bad habit because nearly every time after I just wish I followed the recipe as it was.. However, you can definitely make some accidental discoveries through experimentation, just pick and choose your battles wisely. I think to be consistently good you first need to...

    The NEIPA thread

So I bought a Balter XPA last night and 50/50 it with my bitter NEIPA in a big glass - much better, the wife said "oh yeah, I can drink that now" which is effectively a go-ahead for me to brew what I'm calling "The Fixxxer" for blending across two kegs. It will be 0 IBU's (technically, but...

    What’s your bad brewing habit?

One of my other bad habits is always tweaking recipes, I seem to have a sickness, can't follow a pre-existing recipe as-is. I always have to modify it to give it my own spin but usually this results in something not as good - I never learn! Haha! I do the same thing in the kitchen, always...

    The NEIPA thread

Well the issue is I think I over did it slightly, I used 50g of Ahtanum for FWH and in thinking back, after the boil/whirlpool I took a sample and it tasted about where I would want an approachable IPA. It wasn't until after the first dry hop that my head was getting blown off and I attributed...

    The NEIPA thread

I think I'll try and deal with the CaCl a little better in the blend batch (the original I was at 2:1 ratio), I just don't want to expose the current brew to O2 if I can avoid it. I will give it a go in a glass, just got to do some math to work out the amount relative to the glass. Yep, I...

    The NEIPA thread

Hey guys, so my NEIPA has turned out really bitter (drinkable but still confronting) which is disappointing. It's got good colour and body although it's not as pillow-y as I was hoping for and it's also not as fruity/tropical as I wanted. It had Azacca, Mosaic and Idaho 7 in equal amounts...

    What are you listening to

I'm trying to get into Tool's new album but prefer rediscovering their classics like Opiate, Undertow and Ænima as they're now finally on Spotify.. Probably my pick off the new album so far..

I've dry hopped through the container, just a couple tips; make sure you've dumped most of the trub from the FZ (via the container) first, then when you screw the container back on you'll need to connect gas to it (about 30psi) and purge the container about 8 times and then open the valve...

    American Ale Yeast Recommendation

Don't discount S04 either, I've used it in my Oatmeal XPA recipe and it goes a treat! That said, I've also had great success with WLP041 (Pacific Ale) and WLP051 (California Ale V), I'm also a fan of WLP090 (San Diego Super Yeast) and would probably recommend over the other two..

    The NEIPA thread

I adjusted the custom attenuation to 75% in BrewersFriend and that seems to align with my FG, now I've got a 6.75% beer instead of 6%.. live and you learn!

    2019 Tasmanian State Competition

I might have a crack next year!

    The NEIPA thread

You appear to be correct, my FG was supposed to be 1.019, it's sitting at 1.014 (but mash temp on brew day actually fluctuated a little between 65-67 degrees)..

I did a Raspberry Citra Milkshake IPA a while back (it was delicious by the way so I think you'll enjoy your brew), that said, I bagged the raspberries in a large grain bag as it can get messy. Do the cold crash but I'm not sure if they'll all sink or not, you may have to backflush the liquid...

    Easy biab recipe builder

You can build a recipe in imperial or metric with BrewersFriend, no problem. Chuck in your volumes, malts, hops and yeast and boom, recipe done. Just because you do it on a computer doesn't make it complicated, it would be harder to do it with paper and a pen..

    The NEIPA thread

Well two things, the recipe above isn't exactly what I've got in the fermenter (it's what was supposed to be in there before BF changed a key number on me automatically and I didn't notice)! Hmmmm, maybe I should change that and post what I actually did instead of what I was intending to do...

You can definitely use Isopropyl spray, StarSan and PBW at normal dosage rates, I'm not familiar with the other items you listed but these ones inparticular will be fine!
