Beginner, diving head first into BIAB

That hop schedule looks way out of control, a NEIPA doesn't even need any boil additions, you can't trust the IBU measurements in software for a NEIPA, that's been my experience. I would suggest not doing a NEIPE for your first number of brews, if you like hoppy beers then do some hoppy pales...

    The NEIPA thread

I used Azacca, Mosaic, Idaho 7 and Galaxy - I didn't really look at their co-humulone levels, I think they average out to be somewhere in the middle of the range. The only reason I haven't included my own hop schedule here is because I didn't nail that part of it, I would happily encourage...

    Hobart Water- Additions Help

Hey man, have you contacted TasWater ([email protected]) for a more recent water report? I'm in Launceston - our water is pretty darn soft (statewide), it's practically a blank slate so you don't need to do much. Ask for the following; Calcium Magnesium Sodium Chloride...

    The NEIPA thread

Honestly, according to the recipe I 'designed' (using that term loosely) it was supposed to be about 43 IBUs but it tasted like 143 IBUs. I nearly fell over when I had my first taste test and I will attribute it to the completely unnecessary FWH addition. I don't think this style requires any...

    The NEIPA thread

Good selection of hops there! This is the grain bill I recently used which gave me a really orange-juicy looking NEIPA in the glass.. 72% Maris Otter 9% Toffee Malt 8% Rolled Oats 8% Wheat Malt 3% CaraMunich II I used London Fog Ale WLP066 for the ferment, it's a beast! Weeks on and the...

    Hobart Water Help

I'm in Launceston mate and if Hobart water is anything like ours (all provided by TasWater) then it's a pretty blank slate that you don't really need to do too much with unless a certain style requires you to push levels in a certain direction. For my water these days I'm usually just adding a...

I think I've mentioned this about a 1000 times, glad the message is getting through! ;)

Judging by the gap between the collection jar and the assembly looks like he had this on way too tight, should be a good 1/2cm between them..

I know this isn't a KL thing but is there a definitive list of genuine Dr Smurto all grain recipes anywhere?

That indicates that you've taken it too far and probably stuffed the o-ring. You should have got a spare in the kit, put that on, add some lube and DO NOT over-tighten.. seriously @KegLand-com-au, you need to drive this message home more, so many people here and on the FB page that have had...

Don't overtighten anything is my #1 tip with the FZ! Back everything off and then simply hand tighten, also lube.

Yeah, mine has these too, not sure if it's a concern or not..

I have carb caps on both posts of my lid, one for gas and the other for liquid (also have a carb cap on one of the posts of the collection container just incase I need to push gas through from the bottom but haven't really needed it. I've never used the airlock cap. I keep a blowtie assembly...

Yeah lots of opinions here but yeast stress I feel isn't really one of them anymore, not with a healthy pitch. Anyway, I usually let the initial ferment go real low at about 3psi, after it's just past peak primary I then ramp to about 12psi. When I'm ready for cold crash I connect CO2 at 15psi...

    Fermzilla

Yeah, I mean I usually check the posts, the container seal and the cap/posts on the container aren't leaking when I sanitise the fermenter (just before dropping wort into it). So I fill it with about 5-10L of santisier, put some pressure on it and then check the bottom container seal for leaks...

Fill it with liquid and turn it upside down, it's likely the carb posts..

    Bitter as f@#k!

I accidentally brewed an excessively bitter NEIPA recently, the hop burn was intense, so I brewed a 0 IBU counterpart and just blended the two across two kegs, that rescued the NEIPA.. it pretty good now! Point is, you can rescue these things!

AHB daily email bombardment - can you opt out?

Suggest you tick then save and then untick and save again.. I don't get any emails, ignorance is bliss!

    Consistently missing FG target

I used to have the same problem. Have you tried 2-3 packets in 40L without making a starter (I didn't think you were meant to build starters with dry yeast)? Have you also tried building a starter with liquid yeast? I buy liquid yeast and overbuild the starter, 2/3 goes into the pending brew...
