    First Recipe Help! Amarilla Pale.

Looks good. I don"t like carapils, it does nothing that the other grains are already doing. I would replace it with carared or cararuby. If not available double the carahell to had a bit more balancing character. All the best.

    Honey Beer

I would go for the Magnum and Saaz option.

    Hefeweizen

The pressure will reduce the esters from the yeast that you might want in a wheat beer. Often wheat beers are fermented in fermenters with lots of head space because of the vigorous fermentation and it said that it can enhance yeast character in the finished beer. Again if it is the process that...

First brew - Coopers English bitter

You find the OG was higher than measured given the ingredients you mentioned. The extract can be stratified even with good mixing. So you can get a low OG from the top of the wort and a very high OG if taken from the bottom of the wort. It all evens out in the fermentation so no worries. All the...

    For The Math Guru's.

Please be careful, I know at least one home brewer, with a science background, gravely damaging his long term health with a homemade cleaning product.

    Australian SS Conical Fermenters?

Just saw a you tube video from Keg King, their plastic range of fermenters are made in Australia, tested to 5 bar. Not stainless but a possible alternative. I have not used them.

Difference Between A Draught And Lager?

Most kits beers use an ale yeast and are fermented at 18oC plus. Some of Coopers premium line do use a lager yeast and the directions are for a lower temp fermentation. I brewed the Draught in the 1980’s and 1990’s at ale temps. Will get better results if fermented at 18oC for the first days at...

    Agrresive fermentation

I usually start ales at 18oC for the first few days then move to 20oC the 24oC over 14 days.

Alternative to Joe White Traditional Ale Malt

I tend to use Castle Pale Ale malt for APA’s, IPA’s etc.

    Grain Storage

I keep my sacks of grain in a Rhino galvanised tool box, about $99 from Bunnings. Up to four 25 kg bags, more partially full bags, put mash tuns etc on top. Rodent proof and fairly space friendly.

Mangrove jack west coast ale m44 yeast lagging

I have used this yeast quite a few times in different types of IPA’s with no problems. I like it because ADA is always 80 to 86%, better than I get with WLP001 or US05.

Why do ALL of my can kits taste bad?

There is a significant difference between fresh extract/kits and extract/kits that have been sitting around too long. Often the “kit” taste comes from non fresh extract in my experience.

Crown Water Urn as Boil Kettle

I have had my crown urn for years, usual used for my HLT. However I have used it for BIAB for kettle sour beers so I can maintain the right temperature for one to two days. Recently I used it to brew a 100% oak smoked wheat beer with the BIAB. No troubles. I also cleaned it well after each use.

Transferring to Keg. What am I doing wrong!!

I have a keg fill of sanitiser (at a safe dosage rate), push this into another keg. Connect keg that is full of CO2 to Ss Brew Bucket via a disconnect on the outpost and tubing to the tap. Also have disconnect on the gas post with tubing fitting into the stopper on the fermenter. Open tap and...
