bump. so any ideas? I think I'll put the beer into some unused kegs and see what happens. Is the high gravity reading a problem in itself?

    Problem Brew

There was activity in fermentor for a couple of days (though not crazy like some brews) Grain was pilsner malt (3kg), flaiked maize(250g)and rice hulls(200g) done in a plastic bucket (electrbrim that...

    Problem Brew

I put down a brew last week that was to be my first AG that became a mini mash of sorts. I've used a Coopers mexican cervesa kit with around 20l wort from a AG that went wrong (had trouble keeping mash temp in good range for one.) My OG was 1.032 which was what my recipe stated but it has...

    Beer For Kegerator

If he wants beer in those kegs then go to a bottle-o that sells kegs (in Perth only pub drive throughs bother to sell kegs) Otherwise use Corney kegs as filling up 50L is a bugger and hard to work in a closed environment like these kegs (though possible)

    Western Australians - Please Help

There are 5 micros in the swan valley (i'm trying to get out there as I've only been to Feral). The old swan brewery is an excellent place as well. Some of the beers are quite good but the ambience is supurb, excellent place to take your partner as well.

    Plumbing For Herms

Hi guys, Ive just ordered a pump from specialK and wondering what plumbing gear is needed (and where can i get it) I was going to use Brass 1/2 fittings at this stage as SS is a bit steep, though a future option. I also notice plastic stuff from guys like Colder in the US. Are these OK or too...

Help - Should I Bail This Mash

I have been attempting to do a mash in inadaquate equipment and have had trouble keeping the temperature at a good temp and am not sure that I have converted all of the starches. Should I ditch it and start again later with better gear or could I still use it . i.e will the beer be drinkable?

    Getting Old Kegs

Fosters and Lion Nathan don't like to sell their kegs. Ask a local publican or sports club, they often have old unused kegs lying around

    Cheap Brewing Pumps In Perth

I've been aquiring bits and pieces for an AG rig for a while now and am now thinking of getting a pump after some inspirational posts here. What is the best value pump for me to start with and where could I get it from? I have seen that an aquarium pump can be used if its pumping height is ok...

    Is This Legal?

This is a big problem in OZ though. I work in the industry and I have to check every batches BB when it comes in due to the nature of the beast. Not because I think the beer is 'off' but because customers may complain and it becomes a hard sale. Lots of imported beer arrives in Perth close to...

    Is This Legal?

Was the beer OK? If it was not then it would be an issue but many beers are good way after their BB date...hell Coopers uses a best after label.

    Building A Kegerator

I've got the inside of my door off but have discovered the door is insulated with some fibre mats not unlike roof insulation bats. This process is turning out to be not as straightforward as I had hoped. Quick question what width is standard beer line (8mm or 10mm). I'll post some photos soon...

    Building A Kegerator

I have a tap and a threaded connector that I am going to put in a fridge door (i.e kegerator) The length of the threaded pipe that goes into the fridge door appears shorter than the width of the door. The door is sheet metal and has plastic inlay (where butter container and shelves are built...

Adding Ice To A Brew To Drop Temp

Is it a good idea to drop the brew temp by adding ice with water when doing an extract brew I know that I want the temp to drop quickly so I can pitch the yeast at a good temp (and the days are getting hotter here in Perth) but can dropping the temp too quickly cause any harm?
