Good pickup - i'll grab some of that.

    Potato Peel Oxygen Generator

That's awesome... my biggest issue now is getting experimental batches out of the way as the results can be hit and miss and take some of the enjoyment/reward out of the beer. As useful and satisfying as it is, information doesn't taste and nice as a well brewed batch of beer. Funnily enough I...

    Oxygenation experiments with hydrogen peroxide

So, bottling today. Bottling will be done by pre-purging bottles with CO2 and also topping off the headspace with CO2 to minimise the impact of bottling oxidation on the end product. Firstly, a summary of time vs fG: Control - 7 days 1......+1day/24hrs 2......+10 days 3......+5 days I took a...

Want to hear about ways to work with 10A outlet limits

IIRC the remaining fuses are there because the CB's from Bunnings won't fit - the other ones have already been changed out. I had a board exactly the same and they were slightly different sizes. Good to see the RCD - hopefully it's covering everything. The circuit breakers look like the HPM...

Have you got RCD's and circuit breakers?

    Starter not starting?

Yep all looks good. Some starters won't show much activity at all, then after a few days you get a layer of yeast on the bottom. Subsequent steps may then have a nice good krausen/head formed on them. Main concerns with a starter, assuming everything is thoroughly sanitised and not exposed to...

Want to hear about ways to work with 10A outlet limits

You need to thank this person for their time and say a very direct and final "Goodbye" Yes - and if they're going to the same control box they will probably have a common earth, creating a big long earth loop. This would probably trip your RCD as there will be a current imbalance at the RCD...

Want to hear about ways to work with 10A outlet limits

This is basically the wiring configuration: When you get a signal from the mash PID, say 100% during a ramp, the "SSR-NC" will be triggered, open up and break the contact to the HLT while the mash element gets driven. But as the mash hits setpoint the output from the mash PID will drop to...

Joe White Pilsner Vs Weyermann Pilsner

Yeah I read somewhere that Aussie barley is used for something like 30% of malted barley around the world?

Want to hear about ways to work with 10A outlet limits

Can you get a DPDT SSR, using one 10A plug? Basically have the NO contacts on one pole to go to the mash temperature control, and while it's 'off' the NC contacts will be on the HLT element in series with the HLT controller. If you can't find a DPDT, you can get one single pole NO (most...

    Share your staple malt recommendations...

Looks good, but I do think the Munich II is a better pick unless you're going for light wheats and light coloured lagers. For everything else Munich II does a much better job.

    Share your staple malt recommendations...

Yeah exactly. It could have been that a batch was kilned differently or for too long. The first beer was on a Braumeister and was 90min but perhaps there was too much SMM in that particular batch to boil off. The second I don't have details for other than Gladfield pils being used. I'm...

Yeah I can't imagine you would personally end up with any in your beer, but wondered if you picked up any coming off the boil or had heard anything from other users. Talking only about the pils. Perhaps it's just corny?

A year or two ago I had two beers which had used Gladfield pils and both had a strong DMS. I not sure of the process used in brewing - perhaps the boil was short - but is it possible there is more SMM in the Gladfield pils? It's not really an issue if there is, it just needs to be boiled off...

(SE?) QLD Xmas in July Case Swap 15 July 2017

Hopefully a black IPA isn't in BJCP.... This beer is now BXPINE-SIPA - pine sipper. Going to have Challenger, Chinook, Waimea and Wai-iti so I'm sure it will have some pine. I've just upgraded my mash tun so should be able to have enough to go around for everybody. Still, it could completely...

(SE?) QLD Xmas in July Case Swap 15 July 2017

It's going to be in the 7.5% range and should be dry, but maybe 80-90IBU, so technically it will be sessionable? I made an English IPA a couple of years ago that was a touch under 7% and 75IBU which was pretty sesionable - each glass I had disappeared pretty quickly anyway. So we can possibly...

    That's not a try, it's a miracle

I couldn't believe that tackle on Gillett on the try line - Tedesco over the top and I can't remember who around the ankles. Demoralising.
