When to increase fermentation temp for an IPA

If you're going to do it - do it now OT but can't resist Not sure you'll notice much difference though

    HERMs Question

Maybe take a read of this: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/herms-vs-rims-electric-pros-and-cons.198386/ I'd expect 2x 2k elements should do the job fairly well in a HERMS

Kegging a failed bottle conditioned beer

The CPBF has a bung, gas in and a beer line, so would do the job (yes it would be fairly slow) Obviously if you don't have one it wouldn't be worth buying one just for this. If you do it carefully as per your link it'll take a while to oxidize. Just do it and get your mates around to help...

Ideas for closed transfer from basic HDPE fermenter

Ok just fiddled with a retired "blue bottler" sitting in the garage and it seems to work like a charm ( only pushing water around but still) @Meddo to the rescue :)

Kegging a failed bottle conditioned beer

If you happen to have a counter pressure bottle filler I'm thinking it might be able to be used to "unfill" them. The one I have could do it. So higher pressure CO2 in bottle compared to keg and beer in becomes beer out. use keg PRV to vent excess pressure.

AHB Articles: Fermenting Directly in the No-chill Cube

Some people do use them, although to me they seem a bit more flimsy than the white ones I use. Also be sure to check the seams inside - some of them are pretty rough. Also if you're cubing. the small necked square ones are fine and easy to clean. A bit of warm perc a rinse then a bit of...

    GUTEN

Err what are you talking about here? The last lot of posts were about the Guten jackets. Oh if it's the whirlpool arm I'm with you on that.

Ideas for closed transfer from basic HDPE fermenter

You've done this successfully? No big leaks or air sucked in? If so, what a nice cheap option.

Ideas for closed transfer from basic HDPE fermenter

Another reason to use a kegmenter :) There used to be stepdown barbed joiners available but I can't remember where I got one from many years ago. I do remember gravity transfer was awfully slow using it and opening the keg relief valve.

    Tri clover

Dammit! I was just there for an emergency CO2 swapover, never even looked - ah well no hurry on the tri clover. At least now I've got a 2018 bottle instead of my old 2014 one :) Thanks @razz edit: Just thinking of using them on a commercial keg to use it as a kegmenter @sp0rk you shouldn't...

    Tri clover

Anyone know somewhere local (as in Australia) where I could get a 2inch tri-clamp clamp, gasket and end cap? Trying to search for stuff using a mobile phone sucks, I'm at the new house, so no computer.

    Sending homebrew interstate

Same here. I'd probably use e-go as they are pretty cheap and so far for me, have done a good job. Toll took 2 weeks to deliver an item from 1 side of town to the other as they "misplaced it"

    Tri clover

I don't use them but if you wanted to weld to a HERMS I guess you'd get a tri clover ferrule and get it welded in place. https://www.brewershardware.com/Sanitary-Fittings/Tri-Clover-Ferrules/

    GUTEN

Biased? Absolutely, an agenda probably. Many of us try to minimize our biases in order to share knowledge/experience in a positive way.Others don't. I totally agree also about it's more KL or KK rather than supporting LHBS and forum sponsors. I buy all my ingredients from a brewshop - not very...

AHB Articles: Fermenting Directly in the No-chill Cube

Use the Wayback machine and you'll still be able to see it. If you don't know what that is just chuck it in google for the link.

    GUTEN

Err they appear to be available in store, was there earlier today. I don't need one as my old camping mat does the same job. Maybe they haven't put them up on the website yet. Maybe WEAL is in their beta testing group - Idk I remember folks saying I must be a Blizzard employee because I knew...

    question for yeast cake pitchers

That will work mate, but so would pitching straight on top of what's in your fermentor already. This isn't real science, look at all the rubbish beers the big guys make that are - well questionable. Like food it's part science, part art and part going with what you've got. The more you do it...

    Position Vacant

Yep just the same everyone has one but some are bigger than others :) I don't think WEAL was ever on the payroll, just believes the guys that left did the dirty on KK so promotes KK as much as possible. My opinion, call me an arsehole if you like. Care factor zero. :)

Hop Trellis - Wire vs Rope

No hop expert but 2 things I can say, wire can burn plants on very hot sunny days and plants like something a little fibrous to attach to. Regardless I do use wires in the garden but always add jute as well between the wires. When I was growing hops I always went with a jute rope. Now don't...
