    Biab Beer Designer Spreadsheet

Hi spires and welcome to the forum. I use a 40L crown urn, if you do then wondering why you are using 17 litre cubes rather than a 20 litre (which hold about 24litre), seems a lot of mucking about to me. On the spreadsheet use 21 litres for the recipe then change to 17 litres for the volumes...

Dried equivalent for Coopers Wheat LME?

You can buy Wheat DME, but don't think its equivalent to Coopers Wheat LME. I think Coopers is only 50% wheat, may be wrong.

    Kit with no kilo

Use something like an Australian Pale Ale kit rather than an English Bitter Should give a reasonable IBU (18) in 23 litres. Kit alone should produce about a 2.5% alc beer if bottled, slightly less in kegs. Then you could start experimenting by adding Maltodextrin which should help with body...

    Yeast starters

That's the one I use, also now gives a % viability for year old yeast rather zero. Still working through my stocks of March 2014 1469PC. As I now make mainly Pale Ales/ ESBs. I take 1.5 litres of wort from the current brew. Make a starter with 1/5th of a pack in 500ml for 24 hrs then add 1000ml...

    how many sugar drops

Don't need a funnel, just use a folded piece of paper. You are never going to get good consistent results with carbonation drops. If you are not going to bulk prime then weighing out sugar or dextrose is a good option. You can buy a 0-200 gram balance for about $10 which you will need later for...

    Biab Beer Designer Spreadsheet

Hi mattyg8 Yes you should be able to do initially, but you should look to working out values for your set up. I am still making slight adjustments to my values after 150 brews.

    Old yeast

Did a few brews with this batch recently and had no problems. I use a fifth of a pack for my starters in 500ml then add 1000ml on a stir plate. Now to work through the rest of my 1469PC batch from March 2014.

Anyone else stupid enough to be up this early

This morning managed to do a BIAB brew, kegged/bottled a brew and racked a brew for CCing, plus clean up. Finished for 09:30. All I have to do now is put my starter on this afternoon then enjoy a few amber fluids.
