    Kit And Extract Beer Spreadsheet

Hi frosty3 and welcome to the forum. It been a long time since I visited the spreadsheet but I would say that's normal. The Kit weight is on the KITS worksheet so the spreadsheet should pick it up from there when you use the Get Recipe button. cheers Ian

    Scales

I use a similar scale but 200 grams capacity and 0.01g as I find it better especially for small weights.

    Fermentation Cabinet?

I use two light bulbs at the bottom of the fridge, then have a solid shelf above to hold the fermenters.

    Designer Spreadsheet

Hi Phil As far as I know neither of my spreadsheets will work fully with Libre or Open Office. A number of aspects use VBA macros which I understand are not included in LO or OO. The spreadsheets should work with any version of Microsoft Office from 2003 onwards. cheers Ian

    BIAB - first go NQR

Just look at it this way you will have about 25% more beer to drink. :)

Maximum solubility of O2 in water

I think that's basically correct. You may be able to get a slightly higher amount of oxygen in water when bubbling oxygen in. But part of that would not be dissolved and would be released to give you about 10 ppm (9.1) at 20 C and normal atmospheric pressure at equilibrium.

    BIAB - first go NQR

Another resource is my BIAB spreadsheet on this forum, I use a Crown 40 litre urn so not sure on 30 litre urn dimensions. Also I get 3.5 litres per hour boil off and run 80% efficiency, but I make mid strength beers so 70% is probably a got place to start, keep good records. I don't use an...

    Biab Beer Designer Spreadsheet

You should be able to extend the Hop schedule, you need to copy columns A to H (H is where the calcs are done) down to the rows required. Need to change the Sum formula in Cell K14. The buttons won't work as each one requires a separate small macro, but you can enter weights and times...

Rock 'n' roll icon Chuck Berry dead at 90

Sad to hear. Bye the way Chuck Berry - Etta James is a much better version of Rock and Roll music than the one with Tina Turner.

Most ridiculous price you have paid for a beer

$30 for a carton of Swan or Emu at Fitzroy Crossing back in the early 70s. The same carton was $6 in Perth and $9 in the Pilbara and average weekly wage $150 per week.

    Crown urn BIAB issue

Sorry but this does not make sense. You only need a false bottom if doing multi step mashes in which case you should remove the false bottom after mash out.. Heat the water up to strike temperature, inset bag and grain, insulate urn and leave for mash time (90 mins). You could do a mash out by...

    Kit And Extract Beer Spreadsheet

Hi Chef King, I won't be updating the spreadsheet as I stop extract brewing about six years ago. However you could add the Mangrove Jack pouches to the Kits list, their website tells you the values you get in 23 litres.

    Biab Beer Designer Spreadsheet

If I remember right the difference between pellets and flowers is in the IBU calculation, pellets are 110% flowers 100%. I assume moisture is a large part of the difference. So I would go flowers for wet and pellets for dry.

My Extract Brew Method - please criticise

I did not comment on your small boil volume as you were happy with the result. But if you want to vary the recipe I suggest using the spreadsheet and the Hop Concentration Factor for boil volumes less than 10 litres.

My Extract Brew Method - please criticise

Definitely would not stress from a can. In my extract days used DME and only boiled enough for the IBUs rest went in fermenter, never had any problems. Hope you buy bulk hops with that recipe.

12v heating element to help boil

You will need a transformer to run a 12 volt heater from the Mains which will cost much more than the heater. Why not just get a 500 watt 230 volt heater for about the same price as the 12 volt one.

    Hello from Tassie

Hi and welcome to the forum. A brewer who doesn't drink beer, I am sure you have lots of willing friends. It's like my wife makes me hot Indian curries and does not even taste them, relies on my feedback.
