You put finings into the keg or when cold-crashing? I would've thought most of the particles would drop out of suspension when cold-crashing (that's all I typically do).

I had the same issue with my kegerator with a short length tap on sale from CraftBrewer. On the outside fridge wall I drilled the nominal size of the shank to pass through (say 20mm). On the inside of the fridge I drilled a much larger hole , say 50mm, so I could reach in and affix the nut.
