    I can't bleach it's not StarSan

Hello fellow drinkers Some of you regulars will remember my posts in regard to using chlorine at various dilutions as a disinfectant. To say I was hounded about this is an understatement. Almost without exception, what everybody said was correct. I am on a learning trail at the moment. The...

    Cleaning Your Bloody Keg

Yes you are 100% right about bleach Kadmium but sure why I need to pull it apart and what seals am I checking. I do use lube on the lid seals and check the posts are sealed with soap water under pressure. This is a genuine question and not a statement. Can you please tell me how you go about...

    Cleaning Your Bloody Keg

I do still use bleach but Star san would be the recommended one. I guess my point was more about the process cos you see You Tube vids with people recommending pulling the keg apart including the in and out lugs but I recon my idea seems ideal

    Cleaning Your Bloody Keg

Hello fellow drinkers I reckon I worked out a good way to clean and disinfect those 19 L kegs without having to pull everything apart. Now what I’m about to suggest, I think I am pretty bloody smart, but who am I fooling!!!. I have a T pieced gas line coming from the bottle which I have always...

At last, a hobby that saves money!

ha Ha ha . How you could say me old mate that I seem to take exception and personal offence to everyone who disagrees with my position about the cheap cost of home brewing beer… Is in itself astonishing. I of all people most certainly do not take exception to ANYONE'S opinion at all and...

At last, a hobby that saves money!

Well trendsetters – I must admit I have not been on this forum for a a few days and it is now 9:30 PM and just to prove my point beyond all reasonable doubt, I read my post above, and was about to reply to it thinking it was someone else's post. Well..... Clearly I am having a absolute ball...

At last, a hobby that saves money!

spot on As I have said, it is a "hobby with benefits", a bit like "friends with benefits" but with far less griefand no need for any explanations the following morning. The sad thing for me, which I guess is in fact a positive thing, is that purchased beer just does not "cut the mustard" for me...

    Beer Head Retention

Hi Paddy Melon thank you for your reply and your comments about appreciating my questions, because I am all too aware that I may be perceived as a “sponge” rather than someone who is prepared to contribute and help others. I can assure you that is certainly not me. Like yourself, I look forward...

    Beer Head Retention

Hello our “Yanky Mate” thank you ever so much for your reply. Embarrassingly, I have spent a good solid 30+ years in the aquarium trade both as a serious hobby, and 20 years in business in that industry. And here I am, asking what “OG” means. Anyway, distilled water has a specific gravity of...

    Beer Head Retention

Hello all okay, to add a response to my own question in the interests of information that may perhaps be useful for others, I just opened a longneck and it was the first time that I added half a kilo of dry corn syrup. It was bottled back in 26th of March 2020, and I must agree with the local...

    Beer Head Retention

Hi Yankinoz. If I may clarify a bit, when you say use LME or DME, how much in terms of weight recommend over and above the canned extract? Also when you say “OG”, I’m sorry but I’m not exactly sure what that is referring to. Please do not be too harsh, because it took me 20 minutes to work out...

    Beer Head Retention

Hi Peterlonz. Your post has helped a lot. I never knew Coopers had a wheat extract however when I just googled it, it certainly is there. I think they call a wheat mould extract. If you think it will help make, I most certainly will give it a crack. I only just put on 2 brews yesterday which is...
