    Replacing Birko Urn Element

The ones you posted were talked about previously. Dangerous. Get an ebay one that is around 85 bucks. They are great.

Russian Imperial Stout - Have you brewed one?

If you are a 3 vessel brewer its cheaper, for me anyway, to just throw in more grain. For a can of goo I can get 5kg of malt. I would rather just have the lower efficiency. Of course a biab brewer might find adding extract easier as I used to do.

Russian Imperial Stout - Have you brewed one?

That is enough yeast. What i was getting at was the so4 yeast hadnt reached its alcohol tolerance but rather attenuated as far as it could go with that wort. You can always draw a sample and add sugar and see if it can go higher. I love my RIS. Favourite style after proper AIPAs.

Russian Imperial Stout - Have you brewed one?

When looking at alcohol tolerances of yeast its not an absolute. Jamil has stated just about any ale strain will go to 12% and most to 15%. But you have to pitch enough and aerate enough. A cake of s04 took a ris from 1115 to 1030 in 2 days. I wondered how much further I could push it. I...

Dry Hopping Vs Hop Additions Late In The Boil.

Adding late hops will only work to the extent you want if you are chilling your wort actively. This i am not sure the op was doing. I have transferred all the hop matter to the fermenter Dave70 dozens of times. The results depend on the variety used. All late hopping is ftw for me. The taste...

    Bottling made easy

I tried to find it at big w online but all the search returned was the amazing theatrical masterpieces the Deauce bigalow american gigolo series. Its basically a 7 buck white plastic wider diameter version of a coopers bottle filler. In the big w home brew section. It was talked about on...

    Bottling made easy

If you really want to make bottling easy and fast go get a bottle filler from Brigalo. Big w has them. I was using a coopers and a sping loaded one for 15 years. They are slow. The Brigalo is so quick you wouldnt be able to use your milk crate.

    Ebay, Gumtree and FB Marketplace

I put a few bids on it ad it was so cheap. I was thinking if i didnt already have a setup would have gone much higher.

2x over the side immersion elements?

An update. 2 ots elements boiled 45l of wort in no time in my 50l double walled pot. Very violent boil. From mash to boil in under 15 mins. I think they would boil 60l no problem in a 70l pot if insulated. Mark

15 grams of yeast.. instead of 11.5..

I hope Craftbrewer continues to repackage. Swiss lager and K97 are normally only available in 500g blocks.

Your best excuse for not going AG

I all grain. But all graining once started can be a slippery slope. Biggest excuse for not going AG is the beer variety you can make is that large, the quality that high that temptation can ultimately get the better of you.

    S04 alcohol tolerances?

I have used S04 to 11.5% using a whole cake from a previous batch with aeration. Even carbed in the bottle. Fermented out in under 3 days.

What is your strongest all grain brew EVER?

I do 1120 biab 24l into fermenter from crown urn. Split boil 3 ways. triples your evaporation. and age for over 18 months. They are my tips.

what's the most time efficient AG method?

I am not sure if I am taking this OT, i see it differently. The thread title says time efficient not quickest. With an unlimited budget. On a home brew scale, I would say a system that produces large batch size, or several batches at once. Examples would include a 150 litre 3V or several biab...

No chillers, how do YOU hop tea?

Honestly when doing a miniboil since you are cooling it so quickly you can use HEAPS of hops. I have used 200g in under 5 mins in a 20l batch. Super aroma and flavour. In a barleywine it may be 300g in under 10 minutes. But never do i dry hop.

    Immersion chiller leak

Gibbo it will continue to bitter as the pils containing the alpha acids are already ectracted in the boil. Did you manage to save it? It will be out of balance with the hops and thinner body from the water.

2x over the side immersion elements?

I am moving to this exact same setup. I currently use one sometimes and it boils 30l no probs in an insulated pot. I think 2 would be good for 50 or even 60l batches as long as you insulate the pot. So thumbs up. Also 2 less holes in the pot.

No chillers, how do YOU hop tea?

I have found hallertau and saaz hop matter to be grassy. Fruity american are ok. EKG i think will be ok. Like sponge says will drop out.

No chillers, how do YOU hop tea?

Waiter, There’s Cat Pee in My Beer (and other funny beer descriptors

I remember a radio contest on the nineties on triple m. It was called "live in it to win it." Four contestants were in a car and the last one to leave won the car. They were only allowed toilet breaks. Three blokes and one girl. One of the bloked was a taxi driver. He was favourites as he...
