    Scales - grain

I've got a set of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-35kg-Digital-Electronic-Computing-Kitchen-Weight-Scale-White-/171216503856?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item27dd4c8430 If you shop around, sometimes you can get them for around $50 posted. They can weigh up to 35kg, but at 1g increments...

Oil in herms? Anybody here do it?

Did you read all the responses? Cause I've just learnt that oil could actually be a better medium than water.

    What's happened to our country?

What is Bing? Let me google it... It had to be said :P

Oil in herms? Anybody here do it?

Thanks for that pickup. I just assumed it was the other way with oil being denser, but it doesn't work out that way.

Oil in herms? Anybody here do it?

You don't want to increase the thermal mass of it, so I would not. I would look at painting it in a heavy paint or waterproof membrane.

    G'day, Ill try again

Welcome to the forum. I run two systems, a 3V that can push out 112L batches for when I can't be buggered / don't have time to brew often, and a 1V that does a 28L batch for when times means I can brew more frequently. You sound like me, I'm always messing around with something in my brewery...

Mashing at a higher temp accidentally

I'd throw some sugar in it, make it a bit more %, but more drinkable

    Triclover / Sanitary fittings help

    2 1/2" or would that be 2"?

    Reverse Mashing anyone?

The only way I get that is actually mashing a little bit high, and then using white sugar.

    Reverse Mashing anyone?

I have played with it (the reverse mashing), but IMHO it's not worth it for beer. I can't recall what I was trying back in 2012, that wasn't my joke you remember from back then? "I tried reverse mashing once, I successfully converted my beer into grain..." I have done it with more corn in the...

Can you force carbonate at room temperature (25c)

You would think the CO2 would go into solution easier as it got cold and potentially overcarb if you kept the CO2 pressure that high. Pubs have used warm kegs via a temprite for many years.

Can you force carbonate at room temperature (25c)

Based on 2.4x vol and 25c, 31.3psi will get you to the correct level of carbonation. I assume that would still take the standard 7 days. You could try rocking the kegs etc to make it happen faster. http://www.brewersfriend.com/keg-carbonation-calculator

    45Kg Gas Bottles (Melb. ONLY)

I *think* the point of the campers maybe should had said it turned to a liquid, maybe not solid. Hence it dropped below the boiling point of -1c. We all know gas bottles get very cold when you crank the flow up, especially around the base. It's the reason I ended up using separate bottles per...

$8 Kettle Element Long Term Users

In water for a hlt or herms,no drama. I would not recommend it for wort contact. All mine bypass the kettle switch

    New Fridge Fermenter Project

A few people used to replace the thermostat with a temp controller to keep the light operational. The latest trend is not to touch the fridge and keep it separately so later on if you want to move to another fridge it makes life easier,as the light is not as important in a fermenting fridge.

    Is coopers halal?

I think there will be many articles which discuss both it does and doesn't support it. I don't think we know the real truth, we all can only speculate about it. Pauline Hason is known to be over the top in her speculation and claims. Do you honestly think the CEO of Halal Australia would not say...

    SSR Mounting

The through the wall heat sinks are great, but don't discount the rack mount style. On my 3V's brew controller I went the internal rack mount to keep them out of the way, and out of the way of dust. Also since I'm running 6 x SSRs that would be a lot of cooling fins. But I did include a fan...

QldKev's New Biab With Internal Rims

The wort level in my outer pot would be almost half the way up the innner pot. My slits are def longer, but if I designed it again I would have gone with more your length. Your local, let me know when you are brewing next and I'll help empty your beer fridge. I think it will be easiest to see...
