Recommend the droopy approach. Exactly what I do for all the same reasons. Having a dedicated keg for starsan is the best plan as well. I've smashed all my glass carboys (by accident) and my only fermenters are the kegmenter and the fermentasaurus. Both integrate perfectly into this approach...
