The only difference as I understand it is, in our common vernacular, use of the former is usually by people who expect others to give a ****.
It's a good idea LC.. and practically a necessity if you brew the same recipe repeatedly and want to collect data for each iteration.
But I'm a lazy **** and don't do that. There's a new years resolution if I've ever made one.
