Qld Xmas case Swap 2014- 6 Dec

You could leave it longer but I think it should be ballanced fairly well once it's carbed up. It's been sitting for a couple of months now. I wouldn't be using the funky bottles again unless it's for something funky.

    500L Barrels

I am fairly sure that I know enough home brewers to put one to good use.

    500L Barrels

What wines have they had in them? How many do you think you would get on a pallet to help with freight to Qld?

    Food Gardening

That app sounds cool brosysbrews do you use it? I would be recommending fruit over citrus as you can brew with fruit not so much citrus.

English Special Bitter and Summer Ale Water Profile

I second Manticle on not over doing the salts. Your initial ph should come before any water salts. Correct mash ph will give you a better beer than just adding random salts for flavour.

Berlinner weisse. A cube full of spew?

Your so right LRG. Cubes and fermenters are cheap compared to the time taken and ingredients to brew a beer. If it takes a year it's a year your without that kit anyway.

Berlinner weisse. A cube full of spew?

I had a cube of a sour wort swell after sitting on my shed floor for 3 weeks 5 months ago. Pitched it with wy lambic blend anyway and smelt like vomit for the first 3 months. It is starting to get better now and is hardly noticable. I would say let it ride mate. I'm hoping the Brett will turn...

    The Grainfather

Nev they are made by IMake who do Mangrove Jack, Still Spirit, Blackrock and copper tun so I'm fairly sure if stores have direct access to these products they will be able to stock them at a reasonable price.

    The Grainfather

I mashed both of them with 25l and sparged with a watering can. Both identical Gran bills. I can only put the faster ramp down to a quicker flow of wort. The GF does have a concealed element and the boil was a lot more vigorous. I hope the element is not failing on my BM.

    The Grainfather

I still think it will ramp quicker it will just be a little more stable at holding temps.

    The Grainfather

    1. The malt pipe in the GF is huge it slides into the boiler very snugly. 2. The pipe isn't stuck to the bottom. 3. 4. & 5. There is a tube in the center of the malt pipe that allows excess wort to detour straight to the bottom missing the grain bed. The top filter holds the grain in the...
