What are you brewing in 2017 ?

My only suggestions would be to let the primary ferment go a touch longer - maybe two or three weeks - and to only leave it on the fruit for 3-4 months. The long contact time on fruit will be fine, but the fruit might fade and not be as vibrant. My usual sour schedule is the following: - primary...

    Whats In The Glass (commercial)

Founders KBS. This is what a strong stout is meant to be. One of the best beers I've ever tried. Edit: yes it is so good that it defies gravity and can be poured sideways.

2017 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hop Garden!

Brewed this week with a stack of 2017 home grown flowers. For those of you who have the space, but aren't yet growing hops, get on it. There's a freshness with your own flowers that you just won't get with pellets.

Black IPA / hop combo check

Brewed this the other evening and pitched the cube yesterday. Smelled like hop juice - fantastic.

Black IPA / hop combo check

I use those wider gauge opening cubes and don't have a problem with them. I have a stainless pasta strainer which fits nicely into the top of a fermenter. Decanting the cube through it keeps the flowers out of the fermenter quite well. I also use a sanitised spoon to give the flowers a squeeze...

Black IPA / hop combo check

Cheers techno - the warrior at 60 was more about dialing in specific IBUs as opposed to the guesswork with flowers. 50g dried is all I got from my Chinook plant so keen to use them all in the cube!

Black IPA / hop combo check

I don't brew all that many overly hopped beers, but am keen to punch out a black IPA to use up some of my home grown flowers. Keen for an ***** check on the hop schedule to make sure I'm on the right path! Warrior at 60 mins for 30 IBUs Amarillo pellets at 10 mins for 15 IBUs 50g each of...

2017 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hop Garden!

Picked my hops yesterday evening - 1.2kg wet spread reasonably evenly across the 3 plants. Big increase on last year which saw ~400g wet. Happy with the results.

2017 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hop Garden!

Will be picking this weekend - Mt hood definitely the most loaded followed by cascade and Chinook. The few flowers my goldings threw have since shrivelled up and died. I'll be pulling it in winter and trying a new variety. Excitingly, I've got about 10-12 flowers on my wild Canterbury goldings...

VIC 2016 Xmas Case Swap Tasting Thread

Tried it tonight. Just wonderful mate. Deep clovey aroma which lingers. The clove follows through on the taste, but is melded well with a rich ripe plum flavour I really enjoyed. Smooth bitterness and a very clean finish. Top notch brew and thank you for sharing.

Mine looks nothing like that. I imagine that's what a Chernobyl-grown hop looks like...hope you don't have too many like that!
