Seeking plumbing help with tap - (side lever mixer with spring pull-down spray gun)

Never seen that type before, but it is a commercial four way faucet. The more common ones are mains hot/cold & filtered chilled/ambient. But what is pictured could also be a mains hot/cold & filtered boiling/chilled. Very handy for a brewhouse set up. I would install it anyway using the normal...

Gas Burner - Have I bought a dud?

I had a Bunnies 3 ring burner and not matter how I tried to adjust the air mixture it still burned yellow with black soot some times. Tried cleaning the jets and after banging it on the ground all sorts of debris fall out. I think that is rust and crap in the cast iron casting. If the mixture is...

    50lt Keggle

Yah, keep it simple and in the interest of perfecting a great basic BIAB set up here are my thoughts and experience. If you can find a dumped keg, my came of of the kerbside it can be a cheap way to get into all grain brewing. Cost can be as low as $125 for a ball valve, temp gauge, heating...

    Ginger beer recipe

Vegan certified! I read the ingredients on the Coles Ginger Paste, from memory the additives were Safflower Oil, Citric Acid 330 and Xanthan Gum 415. All good there, as I said there is worse in some of the commercial GB's. I will give it a try in my next experimental GB. It was a hassle to...

    Ginger beer recipe

Yes my experiment was inspired by my love of thai food. The galangal and lemon grass additions were to add citris/pine notes. Had a taste today. The ginger hit is there, but no citris/pine notes and way too bitter with a burn. Maybe to much galangal and chilli. Added some fresh lemon juice today...

    Ginger beer recipe

Hi BM I seen that product in my local Coles as well after I had brought my fresh ingredients. Maharajahs Choice brand I think it was at $4.90 1 kg. Go for it and give it a try. Its good value as I used $40 of fresh ginger in an all grain with ginger brew I put down a few weeks ago. Burnt out the...

BIAB V All in one system for new All Grain brewer

Hi J I have been All Grain BIAB for 12 months using a home made keggle & gas burner. My set up would have cost me at least $100 doing it on the cheap. I will stick it on Gumtree and should get $50 back to go towards a Guten or Robobrew for my next brew. The main disavantages of a gas fired BIAB...

    Star San V Chlorine

Good and very important point I forgot to mention that mechanical damage to SS is a corrosion issue. SS scratches very easily and causes crevices where oxygen is depleted and starts a corrosion cell.

Yes DTD to fully understand the properties and performance of stainless steel you need to be a materials scientist or metallurgist. I do not have that qualification but speaking from my 40 plus years practicle experience stainless steel is prone to all sorts of corrosion issues. Intergranular...

    Star San V Chlorine

"To passivate properly, you need a passivating chemical mix, mostly as above Nitric/Phosphoric, some contain Hydrofluoric acid. Use with caution and only when needed, passivation is the chemical removal of Iron (Fe) from the surface, leaving a Chromium/Nickel rich surface that when oxodised is...
