Any reason not to use these fittings?

at this stage I'm just carrying on with the hose adaptor and using the drinking water tubing bought from the brew shop. It fits into the hose fitting easily enough. And no off flavours coming through after I soaked all the pieces in ABC cleaner for an hour. Might upgrade to a cam lock in time though

Any reason not to use these fittings?

smh, I can't believe those non beer drinking folk have got to you weal! but yeah... good point. The hose I used for the test was one from the brew shop so (I believe) all the flavour is from the fittings in the photo. Maybe I'll give them a soak in some water and see if that alleviates the...

Any reason not to use these fittings?

well dkril, unfortunately you seem to have identified the much more critical issue. Two blind tests with my girlfriend and she's correctly identified the water that came through the fittings both times. Looks like I'm off to the less than local caravan shop!

Any reason not to use these fittings?

haha, good point... and good tip. I'm going to use tubing from the brew store so that part will be ok. And now that I've bought the *******s I'm hoping someone will tell me that I'm good to go! Plus, no caravan suppliers in the area. Maybe the limited contact with the fixtures wont be an issue!?

Any reason not to use these fittings?

Hi guys, plan is to use these to get cold water into the guten from the kitchen tap. Any reason the brass, rubber, or plastic hose adaptors will give me cancer or some other life threatening affliction with enough use??

    Beersmith W.T.F.!!

OK so I'm a convert, until someone can convince me otherwise, Brewfather is the way to go. If you want headaches, random screaming at your monitor or have a penchant for general keyboard abuse, knock yourself out with beersmith. If you want to brew and remember what you did, even plan ahead a...

    Beersmith W.T.F.!!

hmmm, cheers mate, I've since come across brewfather. It's looking pretty amazing, any reason why to use beersmith over brewfather??

    Beersmith W.T.F.!!

    Urn refit

so if I understand you correctly, I'd need to source a couple of washers with an external diameter of about 40mm (diameter of the fitting is 32mm), clamp them together to get a flat surface. Then using engineering grade silicone and compressed fibre washers seal the puppy up. A quick google...

    Urn refit

Hi all, I haven't been on here in ages but have just hit a big snag in my brewing so hoping someone can help me out! I lent my urn to a mate a while back and he boiled it dry (burn marks still visible in the photo). A couple of brews later and the urn was shorting the house circuit box. So I...

Ginger beer infection in the fermenter?

Hi guys, I've had a ginger beer on since Sunday, used a morgans kit, dex, maltodex/dex/light malt mix, fresh ginger (well boiled), and a few other herbs and spices all well boiled, tasted awesome once mixed together but I've not had a minute of bubbles through the air lock.... Opened it up...

ginger beer doesnt appear to be fermenting

Any luck? I've got the same issue. Added kit yeast from Morgan's kit along with the yeast nutrient and nothing after three days. Fermenter is a little cold due to the cold snap but more or less 16-18 from the horribly inaccurate temp sticker.

    First Brew, First Post!

Cheers Chris and Zabond, I did read about the glad wrap option. problem is I'm a bit of a purist/hippy at heart, my goal is to eliminate plastic from the cycle completely but have no idea how ill achieve that now or even if its possible! I imagine it'll be a hell of a task sanitatising though :P...

    First Brew, First Post!

Awesome! Cheers guys. You sure know how to make a guy feel welcome! So I woke up this morning and first thing I did was check my phone to see what replies I got, second thing I did was check the temp of the brew which was still sitting (and now bubbling away) on 25 C. So I un rugged it, checked...

    First Brew, First Post!

Hello all! I've just mixed my first brew up, Cascade Pale Ale kit mixed with Brew Booster #15 (came with the kit) and with an Safale s-04 Dry Ale Yeast substituted for the Cascade yeast which I kind of did on a whim and also because I noted that the temperature range was larger (15-24 C) It's...
