Need help finding a good mash tun in Melbourne.

Grab Yob's offer. Even a rubber bung with a thermometer through it works perfectly fine. Cut out a hole, stuck a rubber bung in it, then a 6" thermometer through the bung. Leak free on my first test. $50 you have a large mash tun with thermometer and manifold. Perfect.

    Fermenting in boiler

I like Basic Brewing Radio (only watch the videos) as they are very hands on and James just goes for it with small batches as experiments. Keen to see/hear how it works out.

    hmmm Starsan

I had a 15L starsan solution being pumped from my 19L Big W pot through my plate chiler and back again, on Sunday. No problems with that pot right now, but it was only for 30 mins or so, not hours.

Growler where to buy, whats your style? They're going to take of

Waiting for this to become available, then I will look at growler options. I just want to keg, and then take a growler with this cap to work or a mates place. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1732077870/the-tapit-cap-the-beer-growlers-best-friend

First AG brew - Effed it but still got some wort

Down to 1017 from 1050 after 4 days. Tasting alright out of the fermenter, get that wheat hit but really can't taste or smell any galaxy. Hopefully the dry hopping helps that, if not I will have to keg hop too. I thought the bitterness would be off but it isn't bad so far. Can't wait until I...

Yet Another, Another 1st BIAB not go so well

Yea, even with the lid half on...boil over in a 50l kettle with less than 20l in there.

    Fermentation Temperature Controller

I have 2 now, 1 for the keezer and 1 for a ferment fridge/chamber when I get that sorted. Yea a STC ebay job is cheaper, but if I have to pay a sparky to check it over, it will end up more. Also, not very confident in wiring one up. Insulating the probe and sticking it to the side of your FV is...

    500gm .1gm accurate scales

Got these scales from http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/390564622737?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Seem spot on for the weight of a 20c coin, so now I can weigh my hops and salt additions accurately. Thought I would share, kitchen scales are just not accurate enough.

    DrSmurto's English IPA

Another reason why I am looking forward to my first keg. Pour half a glass...tastes green? Leave a few more days. Repeat until you keep going back for more :D No more cracking a 740ml because of my impatience.

    water - a dirty secret?

I have been on a bit of a water chem crash course over the last week or so. Just moved to AG, so thought I may as well make an attempt at the water side too. What I have discovered, is the majority ignore it for the most part. Now it obviously matters, considering the history of beer and what...

    Refractometer

Got this for $47 recently, and it is so easy to read. White on blue. Used it about 10 times yesterday. I feel like tossing my hydrometer... http://www.craftbrewer.com.au/shop/details.asp?PID=1135

    Beersmith mobile frozen?

I bought and installed it yesterday morning. Had more than a few javascript errors, when loading a recipe from my cloud folder. Surely there is a better way to sync with the recipe DB on the PC? Mostly useful for the timer...

    My 210L Keezer Build

Cheers :) Yea under $20 for 4 handles, including the small amount of stain and spray paint. I figure $1 is more than the cost of the stain and paint per handle. Considering you need some stain for a Keezer build anyway, they just cost time.

First AG brew - Effed it but still got some wort

Thanks guys, pretty normal for a first AG run it seems. The pump was just for the water side of the chiller, wort was gravity fed. I did it this way so I could recirculate the chiller water (starsan solution that was keeping my FV sanitary). Worked well but was a PITA to pack up. Going to just...

    First "Big Rig" AG ...

Hey Jurt, sounds similar to my brew day today. Efficiency of 48% with all my stuff ups. I had problems with my crush too, tried .9mm as a lot use but it was hardly cracking them. Wheat malt seemed to need an even finer crush too.
