    Dispensing Without CO2 Bottle

I don't know about removing the fun. I personally don't see it being a hassle in any way. I already use my fermenting gas to purge my kegs & I pressure ferment & generally only use gas to dispense. Imagine if you had a 45kg LPG bottle. I think the volume is 88L. That sitting there at 25psi &...

    Dispensing Without CO2 Bottle

Does anyone have anything on this subject? I'd be surprised if no one has ever tried to capture their own CO2 and reuse it.

    Closed Transfer

Other than you getting a leak or a blockage in the pipe I can't see any other way it would stop. It doesn't matter if you're under pressure or not as the two vessels are balanced once connected. It definitely doesn't matter if it's cold crashed or not.

    Pressure Fermenting Question

I've always just set my spund and put it on when I pitch the yeast. I'd be keen to hear the reasoning why people would delay it. I also pressure ferment a lot higher than most. I ferment at 20-25psi, so the beer is completely self carbonated. At those pressures, once cold crashed the pressure...

    Dispensing Without CO2 Bottle

So my brother is wanting to get away from bottling but isn't quite ready to commit to the full cost of a kegerator and CO2 etc. He is looking at getting a pressure fermentor though. He was in the brew shop the other day having a discussion on option and the attendant told him that if you brew...

    Closed Transfer

Was this a gravity syphon type transfer with the gas and beer line connecting both vessels? It sounds like what would happen if you only had the beer line connected between them and not the gas.

What To Do With An English Bitter

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm not against bitters at all, I was more just putting the feelers out for something new to try. I'm happy with extract brews for now but I still like to experiment. I just didn't have anything prepared for this one. I have plenty of hops, so I will find one...

What To Do With An English Bitter

I've just put down a coppers English bitter but trying to think of something to add to mix is up. With porters & stouts I normally like to add things that make them more sweeter & smoother etc but I'm left a little unsure on the bitter. What are your thoughts? Would a salted caramel work or...

    Saving Bottle Caps

It's only the single point of contact bottle openers that damage the lids enough so they can't be reused (and then again, they most likely still can be). I opened bottle for years with a spoon and reused them with no issues but this looks like it does the job brilliantly. Well done!

    Fermzilla

Mmmmmm....... does the vessel actually lose all it's pressure? It's not just something weird going on with the gauge? I personally think 5psi is a bit low to look for a leak, especially if your are brewing at a higher pressure.

    Fermzilla

The only leaking I've had to deal with on my Fermzilla is the collection chamber. It was a bit intermittant and took me a while to find but it was a crack in are area of the thread. Not through the actual container but a crack through the tooth of the thread. This must have made it not apply...

Average weight of a regulator to work out gas left.

I'm currently about 1 year into a 10kg bottle and never weight it at the start. Will try and remeber for next time. It'll probably be a while!

    kegging

I don't mean to take over this thread but while talking about storage, where and how to do people store their filled kegs to keep them at a stable temperature? So far I've been basically replacing my kegs as they run out in my kegerator. I have let one sit in the garage for 2 months over summer...

    Kegland Flow Stopper

It won't matter if the gas dip tube is submerged (not really submerged anyeway, beer just up to the bottom of it), there's still head space for CO2-beer contact, it's not just the tiny dip tube amount of CO2 contact. The 3 main reasons I can think of to not gravity fill a keg is 1.) you don't...

    Kegland Flow Stopper

Well full all the way up to the short gas dip tube. So there will be a small amount of head space. You could take the dip tube out and get even more beer in there if you wanted to. I have non-returns in my gas manifold so I never worry about beer getting sucked up my gas lines. Plus it doesn't...

    Kegland Flow Stopper

If you transfer under gravity with both a beer & gas line, it stops itself with a completely full keg. Never fails. Some people just don't like a completely full keg.

    Best Conical Pressurised fermenter

Is the immersion coil a must once you go stainless steel due to the added weight? A fridge just seems so much easier and cheaper.

    Best Conical Pressurised fermenter

An actual stainless fermzilla! I must have missed that! I always thought that'd be a great idea for them and hoped they would do it but didn't actually hear that it's on the cards.

    Off flavours

Yep so did I but then I found that the temperature had to remain stable the whole time during storage. Now I just keg & put them straight in my kegerator.

    Off flavours

I put my off flavours down to storage temperatures. If I stored my bottles or kegs in the fridge I didn't get off flavours but if I just stored them in the garage where the temperature fluctuates then the off flavours start to show up.
