    Suck back on cold crash

I have heard that coke-cola use starsan thru-out their product process. They use it to sanitize and lower ph. If mixed correctly at 1.5 ml per litre. 400 ml is not that much to worry about in 20 ish litres. I would not be too happy that it happened, although I would try it and probably drink...

    Recipe Request - Augustiner Edelstoff

Yes DJ Herstbruker is from the Hallertau region and is resilient Mittelfrueh clone variety. Used in many lagers and cream ales. Very big in the USA as is in Germany. I have heard that the people of Munich call Augustiner Edelstoff "Schädelstoff" due to its reputation to cause a bad...

HERMs brewing, recirculation speed and astringency

When you mash in at a required temperature and in a perfect world it remains the same without losing temperature, then you don't have to recirculate the wort. When I use my 3V setup I sample and control the wort temperature as it leaves the coil. I believe this is the conversion temperature...

New to this forum, hoping to learn more about no-chill

Good luck on your brewing adventure. You have stated you like NEIPA style beers. Go and get the best chiller you can afford. Hot cubing/ no chill is not for you. If you like beers that have a 60 minute addition and for some reason you wish to extend your boil for 90 mins or no chill it will...

New to this forum, hoping to learn more about no-chill

I have cooled 2 beers via immersion chilling in 12 years. All my beer's have a 60 minute and some have flameout hops and then package in a cube , leave the elements on @ 90 OC if needed whirlpool. Then transfer. Lager or Ale's all have turned out very nice. Thank you.

    Sparge volumes?

I put a removable dial thermometer on the Brewzilla. A few fittings and connected it between the riser tube from the pump to the (sparge arm tube). When the mash is complete, I then attach it to test the sparge water and later to the chiller. Very handy! Yes!!! to a PH meter, sparge around the...

    Your brew day

Allow time between temp rests, it is not instant to go from one temp to another. Heat water , mash in , mash out, sparge and boil. Package wort. Takes me 5-6 hours to do a double batch, 2 x 22 litre cubes.

Cooper English Bitter adding mashed grains

Mash your grains in two batches and pitch the yeast on first batch. Then make the second batch and add to the first. You now have an all grain EB. It is easy to do even if you don't have large pots/vessels for a full batch.
