I've sorta been turned off it by the shitty stock at my local IGA that must be stored in a tin shed all summer till it's ready to hit the fridge.

Benn, sorry to hear that. I think you need to make a decocted wheat this weekend to flush out any bad memories of cooked bottles. :)

My wife puts up with a lot and me performing a day long decoction on her birthday would certainly not surprise her, with this in mind and the fact that we're staying in Melbourne (with the kids:/) the best I can do is make use of the opportunity to visit a quality bottle shop and buy a nice selection beers-wheat included and regale my family with a glass by glass review within the confines of our budget accommodation.

Couldn't get to a decent bottlo so ended up with a Chai Latte and a six pack of SNPA.

Hey that's still a pretty good deal. Next time. :) on a side note a Hochkurz double decoction should only add 30-60min to a brewday. I did two DD's one after the other in 8 hrs (start of cracking to cooled in the fermenter) in 8hrs so you should be able to get 1 in 5.5-6hrs.
