Something like that would be able to handle the pressure no...
That's what I do and never had a problem. A strainer isn't that hard to clean and sanitize, I just sit it in the fermenter full of cleaner / sanitizer while I boil.
If you are going to whirlpool does that mean you need a tap on the bottom of your brew pot?
Hey guys thought I kegged this a couple of weeks ago and I am rapt with it.
I have made 8 kit brews now (usually adding extra hops and light dry malt or something else) and this is by far my favourite so far :)
1 can Coopers Mexican Cerveza
1kg Coopers brew enhancer 1
500gm Coopers light dry...
I have been using a spare pump from my aquarium in an esky. I put 5 frozen 2.4L fruit juice bottles with the lids off in and fill it with water about an hour before I want to use it.
Works awesome.
Tastes ok from the sg reading samples.
It's still 1.020 now so I have turned the temp controller to 1 degree. And will keg and force carbonate Saturday morning.
I checked it this morning and it goes to 1.110.
I have a hydrometer that I used to use for my aquarium that only goes up to around 1.040.
FWIW I swirled the bucket last night and the SG was the same again this morning. I will check again in the afternoon.
Cheers guys :)
I m just using the Coopers hydrometer but I'm confident that its the correct reading. I calibrated it by cutting little pieces off the top until it read 1.000 in 20 degree RODI water.
Also the counter clockwise swirl was a reference to a Seinfeld sex move if anyone cared :P
