Low Alcohol Ginger Beer - Advice needed to boost % after cold crash

Thanks allot, that abv is about what I was expecting. I was just going to add 25 gravity points to the old SG of 1024 to give me a total combine SG of 1049 (difference of second SG of 1036 minus first FG of 1011 = 25). Gravity is gravity, so thought it should be right. Cheers again.

Low Alcohol Ginger Beer - Advice needed to boost % after cold crash

So I threw a kilo of dex and a packet of SN9 yeast at the remaining 15 litres of 2% ginger beer. Now its wait and see. Does anyone know how to work out abv with a second ferment? First ferment SG was 1024 First ferment FG was 1011 (2% abv) New second ferment is SG is 1036. I'm guessing its...

Mini Keg Discussion / Mods / Show Off - Dedicated Thread

I meant the mini keg double ball lock head units that came with the bulk buy. Those, the cheap taps and some of the later regs were the only decent bits in the end. Kegland have the best price these days (and seems like the best quality)...

Mini Keg Discussion / Mods / Show Off - Dedicated Thread

Hi All, If anyone still has any of these kegs and the blind welds aren't too bad, I've found you can clean with TSP and then do a redneck home passivation and it's much better. I'd do multiple cleans with TSP first, seems to help. This link is useful for diy...

Low Alcohol Ginger Beer - Advice needed to boost % after cold crash

Hi All, I'm a lazy brewer who has only really ever done all grain and some FWK (lazy as I said). I recently had an event where I needed some non beer options and did a kit and kilo ginger beer for the first time. I wanted lower alcohol options too, but added too much water, % went too low and...

    Looking for a 20l Braumeister?

Hi Matt, Yes I still have the BM and would sell. I just checked the TNT pricing calculator and its $166.66 ex GST to send. Not sure what delivery would be via Australia post or pack n send, welcome to check if you like? Fyi, shipping pricing was based on weight and dimensions as follows from...

    Looking for a 20l Braumeister?

Hi Jamdee, I've got a 20L Brau with the new controller. I'd sell for $1700 including the copper chiller and pond pump for it. I'm in Brisbane, but can post via commercial TNT carrier at your expense. It's a great piece of kit and I love it, but I find I'm just not brewing much so it's just...

Session Ipa with Windsor yeast - soapy/milky off taste

Hi Mark, The beer is still bad, my thoughts were an infection too. In regards to attenuation, my first thought was it was low as well, but then I read online in many places that most people only get 58-60% so didn't think anymore of it. Also the Bacchus FWK I cloned is 1045 with an expected...

Session Ipa with Windsor yeast - soapy/milky off taste

I'm sure talking to them a year ago they used Windsor in their pale ale/session IPA. Their FWK page still recommends Windsor too. You must be psychic, as I have an old English IPA cube and some old Goldings, bought some more Windsor to ferment it out. I'll ferment it this week and see how it goes!

Session Ipa with Windsor yeast - soapy/milky off taste

Hi Hoppy2B, First time using windsor yeast, but I have tasted many beers which use windsor and this tastes very different and just wrong. This beer was basically a clone of Bacchus pale ale/session IPA and I used windsor as they do for the reasons you stated, lower alcohol level and fuller...

Session Ipa with Windsor yeast - soapy/milky off taste

Some more information... I'm not a great brewer, but I'm fanatical about procedure and sanitation, and I'm starting to doubt myself that when I dehydrated the yeast I used PBW water that was sitting in my sparge urn as I'd been cleaning fermenters. I doubt this as I normally just heat water...

Session Ipa with Windsor yeast - soapy/milky off taste

Hi all, I haven't brewed in about a year and I still had some cubes laying around, so grabbed some new yeast to ferment them out. This one was a session ipa (OG 1044) that I fermented out with Danstar Windsor dried yeast. It finished 1018 after 11 days and was dry hopped with a year old...
