Bottled mine today, just over 4 months, left the other batch to carry on for a bit longer to see if there is a difference. Next im looking at going for a straight mead with some ageing possibilities. Looking at the Chubby Bat Mead recipe.

It shouldn't take too long to settle down i dont think, i did the same and mine cleared up in about a fortnight. Might have been sooner but didnt check :D

So the can of goop and a kilo of dex/malt? Maybe add some finishing hops for more flavour or more malt for a bit more body. Also can reduce the final volume if you want to increase body.

Did you use a hydrometer to make sure it was stuck? You probably just had a leak and it was actually going along nicely. Airlocks are seriously only there to make cool bubble sounds IMO :) EDIT: If you want to move the yeast around a bit, try putting the fermenter on a tennis ball and rolling...

What is everyone bottling they're mead in? Mine is nearly 3 months old so going to bottle soon and was going to use wine bottles but i can hardly drink 750ml of mead in one sitting. As it doesn't need carbonating, how long will it store in an open bottle of wine? If not i will just bottle in...

I think they're the same, just a generalisation.

I use 10L plastic water containers from bunnings and have aged things for a few months, not as good as glass but i haven't seen any problems for ageing funky beers.
