    KegLand Questions and Answers

I don't think it entirely works out, though there might be a small benefit. The pressures inside and outside the bag are going to be equal, so if there's any gas headspace in the bag (and if you carbonate it, there will be, since it will come to equilibrium with some gas not in solution) that...

Will the real Gypsum step forward!

You would notice if you were purchasing bassanite AKA plaster of paris, because it likes to set into a brick when wetted. The mostly-anhydrous form, Calcium Sulfate γ-anhydrite, is highly hygroscopic and will slowly spontaneously convert to the dihydrate in the presence of H2O. The...

I did it because my 3.0 board died. User facing, it has 2 new features: The controller now has a setting 'HH' after 99C that will keep the elements on 100% of the time, rather than having to set the temperature above 100C to maintain a boil You can switch the timers into a mode where the timer...

I use a little alfoil around the rim to cover that gap and the handle holes while mashing in.

The problem is the Duotight check valves don't work. It makes sense that the soda keg pressure creeps up towards the pressure of the water inlet - you dispense some liquid at 40 psi, so now you have a bigger headspace at 40 psi, then the float valve lets more water in, which occupies some of...

Hot tips for enjoying the craft as a perfectionist

As a perfectionist...I don't see how "stop caring about stuff" is remotely an answer? Yes, perfectionism is a pain, but it's also the way I enjoy things... doing it without fussing about every little thing doesn't make it more fun, it just makes me wonder why I'm doing it at all. Things aint...

New to kegging - question about gas leaks

Yeah, you're not gonna get much evaporation through the lines...if you leave them full of Starsan, they'll still be full of starsan when you get back. That's not so much a problem. The common manifestation of this issue is what was being talked about earlier - using a spray bottle to check for...

New to kegging - question about gas leaks

This is a very real thing - the particular plastic Duotights are made from hates starsan. It's fine when concentrations are low (like properly made-up starsan in the lines) but if you let the water evaporate the higher acid concentration absolutely destroys the fitting. I'll see if I can dig up...

The only regulator they stock that mounts directly to a Sodastream bottle is this one. It's a great option if you can get your hands on one! https://www.kegland.com.au/kegland-mini-regulator-sodastream-16g-bulb-compatible-the-fanginator.html Alternative: Alternatively you can use one of the...

I expect they're using a buffer tank, you'd be waiting around the carpark for hours otherwise. Video posted on FB the other day shows a pretty decent flow rate (probably have to be a member of the "KegLand Home Brew Community Group" to view)...

    KegLand Questions and Answers

The pH of the mash ends up dominated by the buffering effects of various things in it anyway, the source water pH has a very small effect. Pull up your water calculator of choice, pop in a recipe, and fiddle with just the water pH. You'll see what I mean.

    KegLand Questions and Answers

A lot of the Brewers Hardware gear has the "wrong" (mostly NPT) fittings, so perhaps it would be better to pursue a partnership/licensing arrangement rather than actually importing their stuff. If @KegLand-com-au did bring in their stuff perhaps the Tri-clover versions would be better.

    Temperature Controlled Conical - Options?

Not on the Brewtech Uni, but I carbonate in primary all the time on my kegmenter - usually by spunding the last few points of fermentation. This does require the vessel to take nearly 2 bar of pressure, while the Brewtech Uni seems to recommend 15 psi (roughly 1 bar) operating pressure so I...
