    Tokyo Craft Beer

Sorry, Lord Raja Goomba the first, I'm not the mystery blogger you seek. Hopefully the list I provided helps you with your study tour though. Let me know if you need any advice/tips for Tokyo. Another good option if you want to make it cheaper to try many different beers in Japan, albeit less...

    Tokyo Craft Beer

Just finished up a long trip to Tokyo, and managed to try all the following beers. I used this blog to find out where they were http://tokyobeerdrinker.blogspot.com.au/ In no particular order. My scores are probably slightly high by 1 point, but I tried to keep it comparable to Japanese style...

    Beijing Breweries

Forgot, I also tried a beer called "Reberg" in Shanghai. Their website looks to be down at the moment, but this is it if it comes back up http://www.rebergbeer.com/. Some internet reviews pan it, but they usually buy the pilsner or other light coloured beer, and whinge about it being cloudy. I...

    Beijing Breweries

Been a while since I was last on here, but figured I'd share some pub/brewery expereince from Beijing and Shanghai. A search didn't really come up with much relating to the 'Slow Boat Brewery', 'Great Leap Brewery' and the 'Boxing Cat Brewery'. Slow Boat Brewery is located in Beijing and has...

    Krombacher Weizen

I agree with Manticle. Go for a wheat extract with some 3068 or 3638 yeast. The yeast gives most of the banana flavour. From memory the Krombacher isn't as banana-ery as the Erdinger so you might want to go closer to the clove temperatures. I prefer the Franzikaner Dunkle from the German Club...

    Is There An Aluminium Debate?

The inside of the cans is actually lined with an epoxy coating. So yes that story is full of crap; they got their Al poisoning from elsewhere.

What Can I Use To Ferment In?

At my last visit to bacchus brewing/craftbrewer I saw plastic bags in the fermenters. Downside is it requires siphoning still. They also hope to have the bags for sale soon too.

    Thank You

Without this site I might have saved my money from all the upgrades to BIAB. But when I enjoy a good wheat beer I wouldn't fully understand just how hard they can be to master (thanks to Zwickel for some tips). Nor would I be the beer 'expert' at any function; all credit goes to knowledge...

    Hopgoblin Clone

I thought it was called Hobgoblin? That said I'd been looking for a recipe for this beer also, cheers to the above.

What Type Of Thermometer For Brewing?

I used to use a candi thermometer, but with my larger pot I couldn't use it any more, then used my digital temp gun. Downside of the temp guns are they measure anything in the path of the laser; so steam included. In the end I bought a mashing thermometer and put a hole in the side of my pot for...

Cooper Lager Kit + Cooper Stout Kit

The tin of lager, lager being a fairly soft flavour profile, would be cancelled out by the strong flavours of the stout tin. The lager tin would in effect become a tin of LME. And as pointed out you'd have to drop, or greatly reduce, the 1kg of sugar, unless you were after a high alcohol beer. I...
