The Worst Beer I've Ever Tasted

Maxx Dry would have to be the worst beer I've ever tasted (haven't tried Tun). Corona is also high on the list.

    Brewnight Fail

Spontaneous brewing never goes well for me. I've got to plan it well in advance. If I hurry, I f... it up in a big way. Every time. Oh, and brewing while the missus is using the kitchen to make sausage rolls is never a good idea. Sausage meat and onion flying around to the sound of her...

    What are you listening to

People Under The Stairs - BEER I don't listen to much hip-hop myself, but I found this song amusing (starts about a minute in).

    Purists Vs Add-junks

I quite often add 250 to 500 grams of dextrose to my brews, depending on the style. Just to dry it out a little. I find my brews are a little "sticky" in the mouth without it. At the end of the day, I brew because I want to make something I can't buy, so that usually requires additions that...

    Keg Tags

Awesome idea, Chris! I might look at some blank white tags and write on them with a whiteboard marker (can't think of 12 tags off the top of my head!).

    Tesuco Dual Gauge Regulator

Just got my first regulator in the mail and am wondering if perhaps it's missing an "O" Ring. Hoping someone with the same regulator can help me out. I see there is a white "O" Ring on the gas-in side of the regulator, but on the gas-out side there are two pieces which form and attach the barb...

    Boiling Grain For Flavour

Never had clear water from cold steeping. I should mention that I crack much finer when cold steeping.

    Boiling Grain For Flavour

Absolutely cereal. No sarcasm. All you are doing is leeching the converted sugars from the cracked grain, it just takes a little longer as the water is cool, hence the 24-hour steep. I even find cold steeping better for darker grains, like choc malt. The end result seems less harsh.

    Boiling Grain For Flavour

Not sure what others think of cold steeping, but I've had some success with it when I can't be bothered maintaining a constant temp. 24 hours before I begin the brew, I crack the grain, chuck it in a grain bag, put the bag in a few litres of room-temperature water in my boiling pot, chuck on the...

    Beer Dogs

My dog, Milly. She's a New Zealand Huntaway and a rescue dog. We got her from a farm when she was eight months old. Skinny as a rake and very timid as she'd been abused. We've fed her up and given her a loving home and she's become a beautiful companion. Very loyal and very protective.
