I know this isn't answering the actual question, and if you do want to go stainless the ss brewtech is certainly well regarded.
But why stainless? If you are starting out, id recommend a 30L plastic fermenter for no more than $40. There are plenty of experienced homebrewers getting...
Generally, the Wals extract and rapid creek series aren't bad for the convenience they offer. I particularly liked the stout extract after about 3 months of conditioning. If you are an extract brewer they are worth experimenting with. The quality is there, the taste just comes down to personal...
Hey mate, i brew in maitland and you're right, the water is pretty good off the tap. I recommend getting a $30 caravan water filter from supercheap to filter the chlorine out. Sounds simple but will make a noticeable difference to even the simplest brew and will last you a year or two...
Ive done canadian blond with coopers be2 and 500g of bush honey. It turned out a great, simple and cheap beer. Mates from both the "craft" and "megaswill" persuasions enjoyed as well.
What about bottling from kegs? Do you lose much carbonation in the process? I often bottle the last few beers in the keg when changing out with no noticable ill-effect short term. Would they maintain that over months?
I have always preferred kL as a supplier, and I think the gear is good quality for the price. But by **** sort your website issues out! This needs to be a priority. Its gets worse every time i log in. Search is terrible, and navi links are not logical.
Did the following Toucan a while back and I was happy with it.
2 x Coopers European Lager Extract kits
500g LDM
Maurivin 497 Lager Yeast 10g (I'm sure the 34/70 yeast will work well though)
Saaz Hops 20g (steeped then added 5 days prior to finishing)
Hersbrucker Hops 20g (as above)
Thanks for the update - definitely appreciate hearing how things turn out when recipes are being posted! Think I might give this a shot in the next couple months
