I was at JS in darling harbour last night and drank this beer all night. Went great with the steak I had (which was awesome also) Nice roasted flavour and seemed a bit more sharper than the normal porter and didn't leave as much of a coating inside your mouth. Really liked this beer.

Did the kit come with any yeast nutrient? If there is no malt in there then you may need a yeast nutrient to get the thing kicked off I think... The TCB ginger beer kit comes with a yeast nutrient and I use that even though I use malt in mine as well as dextrose. Rich

Mike, If you used the kit and all malt (ie. no dextrose) then I don't think you'd get below 1010 as the malt is not going to ferment out as much as dextrose. Somewhere between 1010 and 1015 sounds about right based on the kits I've brewed using malt only Rich

I used tha avery printer labels on my first couple of batches and then realised what a pain in the ass they are when washing/sanitising as they are hard to get off and foul up your water with little bits of paper pulp. I now just use a black sharpie type of marker and write on the cap. Style...
