The twisted hop building is rather damaged, which is really sad :(
All of our brewers in Christchurch are luckily OK, but many a brewery has been, to quote Ralph from Three Boys "Fu*ked"
Also Pomeroys an awesome craft beer pub has had its building totally destroyed :(
Was it a starter made out of the smack pack?
I've had varied results, sometimes I find 1469 flocs like lead after only a few days, but other times I have found it to take a couple of weeks in the fridge to fully floc.. Possibly due to mutation over several generations?? Or another factor

Dusted off ye olde brew kettle yesterday for the first time in 2011, just been way to busy to even consider brewing :o I know, im ashamed of myself! haha
So was planning a nice 3% summer ale to kick off the brewing year, and knocked this out
2kg Golden Promise
1.5kg Kolsch
150g Dark Crystal...
Yeah but during that process, reculturing, drying etc, the strain is likely to mutate into something different from the original - similair, but different...
Knocked this out yesterday! Im officially out of US hops other than Cascade, and out of crystal malt apart from 120L, so im finally getting rid of all my old ingrediants which means I can start a fresh soon!!
Pitched just now at lunchtime along with a litre of ice, the temp was still at 28*c...
Cant say i've tried the Rogue wet hop beer, but if its anything like the rest of their range it will be devine!!
But I did try Sierra Nevada Wet Hop Ale, and that was nothing but pure bliss :icon_drool2: :icon_drool2:
Brewed this yesterday with a noobie kit brewer in attendance, struggled to get a decent boil going tho cos it was horrificly windy <_< Meaning I ended up with 23 litres instead of 20, but oh well...
6.5kg Golden Promise
315g Cara Red
250g Cara Pils
80g Crystal 120L

The thing about us kiwis is, yes we are hard workers (especially all of the ones who get their act together enough to move country), yet we will happily joke around about being lazy dole bludging bbq having beer drinking bogans at the end of the day :icon_cheers: :icon_drunk:
I personally dont use NZ hops very much as im a whore for the US stuff, but have read on the NZ forum people seem to still be getting their hops from them??
I said they werent as good compared to their slovenian counterparts, however in their own way they are still a nice hop, ive used NZ styrians in a few belgians with good results, its just never quite as good as when you use the real thing!
