    Look at the facts 3 to 5% increase on the tax only takes a schooner up by about 20 to 30c so don't know how they get $12 for schooner.

    The one thing you are missing here is the keg is under positive pressure from within do it would be impossible for the oxygen to infiltrate while the CO2 is coming out.

    Yes you forgot oxygen in the beer will send it off quicker than a prawn on a hit day. Carbonating the beer will get the oxygen out and keep it longer.

    Philly sour yeast and high temp was left over night noticed it this morning and corrected it.

    I just added yeast to the fermenter and accidentally set temp to 30deg instead of 20deg. I have now backed it down to 20deg. Question has this ruined the yeast?

    Yes. I can see the circlip but it looks like you can't hook the pliers on it.

    That looks like a great setup to use it as a keg or fermenter. How hard is it to remove the ball valve?

    The biggest problem I see with a 50L keg is how do you clean them. If you are using them for fermentation or long storage.
