    Smoking Meat...

Well I had to pitch in $105 of my own hard earned pocket money to get it but yes I guess I am well loved. I can't wait to test it out. I really want to do some beef jerky and a beer can chicken, the old BBQ was not tall enough, I could fit 6 in this one.

    Smoking Meat...

Got my fathers day present early... Put the last of my charcoal through it last night to burn the wax off the grills, put some oil on all inside surfaces like the instructions told me to and just to see how it goes. It needs a lot more charcoal than my old BBQ but that was just a small and...

2015 Hop Plantations, Show Us Your Hop Garden!

I am no expert but everything I have read has said to plant them close to the surface. If I was in your position I would try to tip everything you have in out keeping it all together and then put new potting mix in and then put the old mix on top and backfill the edges. I am no expert or even a...

    First Hydrometerreading

    New To Fonts/taps/keezers

Freezer lids should not have any cooling coils in them but they can have power cables running through them including 240v AC so a little caution is advised. For a font you will need a tower, taps and shanks (probably called a shank elbow or 90 degree shank) Somebody posted the other day a...

    First Hydrometerreading

Never thought to use the dishwasher... Going to do that now... OP, My routine is a little different now but when I started I would leave it for 2 weeks and then check gravity wait 2 days and check it again, unless you were making something with a very high gravity it would be ready for bottling.

Anyone Serving Hot Kegs Through A Plate Chiller?

When serving you also want to keep turbulence from keg to tap to a minimum, turbulence will cause CO2 to escape solution and you will have a lot of head problems, a plate chiller is about as turbulent as you can get. You are chilling it at the same time so that will counter it a little but you...

    What Are You Brewing III

The Chock Rye Mild is fermenting away happily, yesterday there was a crazy transformation at 0900 the krausen was a thick brown mass that looked a little like the top of a chocolate cake, it even had a few cracks in it. About 3 hours later white foam had pushed its way through the cracks and the...
