Lol, wash your mouth out! Up here in CQ our beer needs to be icy cold all year around!

A question for those that use kegs.

Thats what I was thinking for, to transport and consume at parties etc. We keep the keg cold in a plastic 44 full of ice.

A question for those that use kegs.

I know its normal practice to have the kegs inside a fridge and taps on the outside. But has anyone ever used a temprite system? We use one if we have a party and buy a keg of beer.

good Food article - the truth about cider

That was very interesting, thanks! I think that goes a long way to explaining why HB cider doesn't replicate the sweetness on commerical ciders, because they aren't real ciders. Will do some research into the ones I drink. I don't like the idea of drinking something made from imported...

How full do you fill your bottles?

Thus far I have been filling mine to the bottom of Mr Fourexs' chest. Can I put more in there? I have been worried about bottle bombs, but now I understand its more about keeping everything clean instead of head space.

Haha, sorry, another idea rattling around in my head...

From my experience in cooking, cooking chocolate has less of the fats in it that may contribute to the lack of head retention? I have some rich dark chocolate leftover from making hubby a mud cake for his birthday last weekend, so will try that. (And the closest Aldi is oh, 600km? Away!)

Where do you get your pear juice from?

I really like pear cider, and would like to make some for myself, but I can't find pear juice anywhere! Should I just make my own and risk and wild yeasts, or is there a commerical one out there that I just haven't found?

Thanks Jimmy :). So when you say melt in water, do you actually mean melt it with water, or melt it over water (ie a double boiler)?

    Homebrand Draught

Will do :-). Although I got in trouble today for buying too much stuff, lol. I got some DME, pride of ringwood hops and us05 yeast to use in this one. Pretty sure I inherited some malted barley when I got all of this stuff from the old fellow that passed. So once it gets a bit cooler I shall...
