  • The All Inn FWK's are solid. First tapping of Bandwagon DIPA over the weekend. Great drop, solid malt backbone, bitter, fruity. Everything a good DIPA should be. Will be using these again when I dont have time to brew

I was eyeing off the bandwagon for my quick next brew . think you just talked me into it
FINALLY got through to my wife about the importance of rinsing BEER GLASSES after they are washed. How hard is it to understand???

Have you shown this to your wife. You'll be lucky if she washes anything of yours :)

Same as DJ lethal. I complained now my glasses get left to the side. The ones i put in the dishwasher get left on the bench after cleaning because i tried to advise where each stule of glass should be placed in the cupboard.

Wouldn't be a brew day without dramas. 3 ring burner decided to leak, so had to drain the keggle into another pot till i could lift it, and then swap it out for my nasa burner off my double batch rig. ****.
Just mashed in a simcoe, Amarillo, citra and cascade amber. Should be a ripper, even my megaswill drinking mates and father enjoyed it
Just knocked my temperature controller off the top of the fridge and smashed it to bits. ****.
Last schooner of my stone and wood clone. Damn it! great beer, on the bright side ive got a beer from the same grain bill that I smashed with 60g each of el dorado, azacca and galaxy going into the keg fridge next. Winning! Need to find time to brew more though, keg stocks are at all time lows!

    Thanks dude!!
I've tried something similar, but with wheat flour instead of flaked wheat, & Chinook+Galaxy for the hops . The wheat stood out too much, or didn't go well with the Chinook i threw in there. I wonder if the flaked produces a significantly different result? Also interesting to see you've really just done dry hopping for all of the hops flavour & aroma input.
    Cheers!!

It was a very small addition in comparison to the rest of the grain bill. I added it more to add some cloudiness and assist with head retention. Worked really well in the galaxy brew, will report back how the 3 hops go, ive not used el dorado or azacca before
So about 60g of each of Azacca, El Dorado and Galaxy have just gone into a golden/summery ale type beer (dry hop). Never used azacca or el dorado before, but looking forward to trying the beer.

I used to say mash in...but have made too many mistakes after smashing a few too many between mash in and flame out haha
what to do when you accidentally freeze your porter whilst cold crashing? just keg it anyway, call it an eisporter and enjoy the warmth from the extra alcohol!

I know a guy who was restricted to drinking light beer by his mrs so he would semi freeze cans of Mid and drink the "enhanced" beer off the top and discard the cans with the ice in them.

Ended up kegging what I could. Ended up with 3/4 of a keg. Purged it well with C02, and won't last long enough to oxidise. Good one for a cold day, nice warming from the extra grog in it!
One of those days, where nothing goes right haha. Was kegging a hef, opened the tap on the fermenter, beer runs down the racking tube. All good, then I see the flow back up and then start bubbling back up into the fermenter! ****! I forgot to loosen the lid off, creating a vacuum. 5 mins of dicking about with that, and had to whack the lid back on the keg and purge again. Then the fuckin regulator decides it wants to start leaking and froze the lot up! Managed to get it all...
Why didn't I just go into kegging to begin with? 1 vessel to fill FTW! \m/

Hearing you on the upfront cost. It's not cheap. I looked into the kegs themselves and ended up just going with new ones...By the time I looked into replacing all the seals and fluffing about cleaning all the dirty syrup out it wasn't worth going second hand. Not only that a lot of second handies I've looked at have been in terrible condition. Wife death stared me when she said ok you can go and look, and I walked out with 2 kegs and all the fittings haha

mine was 'you know dear, we can get rid of these bottles'
    'throw them all out?'
'yep, I just have to start kegging'
    'ok'
to which I almost fell over

"I'll only need this much room..." was enough to change over from the 560 long necks stored about the house!
Breaking in the new 100L double batch pot! Got a Melba smash in boiling now
Another Hefe on the cards next, will be perfect for this hot weather. Grain has arrived, now to find time to knock it out.
