    Stuck ball locks

New o-rings and some better lubricant solved it, thanks everyone :super:

    Stuck ball locks

The quick disconnects are nearly impossible to get back off, they go on fine. The springs look okay but I think you're right Lethaldog, its probably easiest to just replace them.

    Stuck ball locks

Hey guys, I've got an issue with the ball locks on my corny kegs - even though they're clean and the o rings are all good and lubricated, the ball locks need some persuasion (as in the hammer type) to get them back off. Does anyone have any ideas or should I just replace them? They're from...

    Snap taps... a cautionary tale...

...this comment just begs a "that's what she said." But I would never stoop that low.

    Lager advice

Been kegged for 10 days so chucked it on tap tonight - perfectly passable pub tap beer. If anything a little boring flavour-wise so might bung in some hops if I do this one again. Definitely no 'twang' or anything, just good ol' beery goodness. Even SHMBO is happy with it even though it doesn't...

    Snap taps... a cautionary tale...

I got a box of them from a camping shop closing down a few years ago paid like $1.50 each :) When I bottle with them I do turn the tap around for that reason however this one was unintentional...

    Snap taps... a cautionary tale...

I'd taken some other stuff out of the fridge earlier and must have knocked it around, otherwise no idea, just was  Definitely the door, it actually hadn't closed fully which is the only reason I still have a couple of litres left as I noticed and went back to check. Yeah don't think...

    Snap taps... a cautionary tale...

Snap taps are wonderful things - cheap, easy to clean and easy to use and regulate flow. However... It's been said on here before but I just thought I'd reiterate a danger of snap taps. If the tap is facing outwards rather than inwards, there is a really good chance the fridge door will push on...

    Toucan Stout

Blowoff tube it is then, doubt SWMBO would like stout all over the place, might be pushing my luck a bit :D

    Toucan Stout

I like the idea of the coffee grounds, definitely going to try that. Thanks all, gonna put this one down tonight - stupidly excited about the result :)

    Toucan Stout

Are these your typical 18-20 degree fermentations? An old bloke I know swears stout has to be done at 10-12. Two stouts, Kg dex AND a kilo of LDME? Wouldn't that be like and 7% and super bitter??

    Toucan Stout

Well I'll be stuffed if I could find those, did forum searches for toucan stout, stout/dark ale etc... Bit special me... I was referring to the dozens of references to this mix rather than actual recipes which I've never seen until now. Cheers, I'll just refer to those links.

    Toucan Stout

Hey all, I've seen mentions of a toucan Coopers Stout/Dark Ale around the place and thought I'd give it a shot with winter coming on. Is this a pretty standard stout without anything additional added? I prefer a dry(ish) stout without too much burnt flavour (caramel) ala Coopers Stout and not...
