    Hop Flowers

Hi Guys, I am about to do a brew with some home grown EKG hops courtesy of a friend. I am an extract brewer. Can I just throw the flowers in the boil like I do with the pellets? Also, when I use pellets I ordinarily throw the entire boil, hop residue and all, into the fermenter. Can I do this...

    Guinness Draught Vs Invalid Stout

Whenever & Wherver you drink Guiness here it will not be good, ESPECIALLY on Tap. It is not even a close to the genuine article. I'm from the UK and Guiness was my weapon of choice when living there and in Dublin. It's feckin outstanding.

+1 Although I got a surprise when I unscrewed the bung to screw the tap in. NO hole there which was a bit weird! Nothing that the drill couldnt fix up though!!

    First Ever Lager!

Hi mate I am an extract brewer also and have been doing a number of lagers and pilsners recently. The first thing that stands out for me is that you are very light on hop additions. For example my Lagers tend to have close to 70g of 60 minute additions and around 30g late additions. I have used...

    Varying Og

Thanks guys for your responses, re traced my steps and I'm assuming it must be taking a reading full of hop particles / trub to throw it so far off!

    Stc 1000 Temp Controller

Hey guys, I have just wired up my 2nd STC exactly like I did my first yet when I turn it on it is giving me the "EE" message and alarm. Does anybody know what this means and how to fix it? I'm guessing it is something to do with the sensor as I can change all of the variables, but the default...

    Frozen Cube....

Hi Guys, I was CCing an ale and my fridge went slightly mental and froze the entire contents of the cube. I'm assuming this has the yeasties. I'm going to do the following but just wanted to see if anybody had any differing thoughts. Melt on it's own and take back to brewing temp Rack to bulk...

    Kolsch Extract

Hi All, I put this recipe down a couple of nights ago and ended up going with the WY2565. Does anybody have experience with this yeast? I am using glad wrap and the krausen is doing its best to get through - is this normal for this yeast? I have also been told that this yeast takes a while to...

    Bottles Overflowing When Priming

That seems like quite a laborious method? Why don't you just boil the required amount of dex in 500ml / 1 litre of water and add to bulk priming vessel? Surely doing that would be quicker than priming each bottle?

    Fan In Ferm Fridge...

Thanks to everybody on their suggestions. Does anybody have a picture of a fan in their fridge so I can get an idea of where & what to do. Things make more sense when I can see a visual. Cheers, Mut

    Fan In Ferm Fridge...

Hi Guys, My ferm fridge can fit 2 fermenters in but I'm conscious that I am not getting even air distribution without a fan. I have heard a lot of people say they have installed a CPU fan in their fridge to aid such issues. I have searched but cannot seem to find a "how to" that makes sense...
